Demystify the fear of taking care of your own pool
I found this book to be extremely helpful in learning how to keep my pool clean and the management costs down to a minimum. In a very short while you will begin to understand the basic chemistry of your pool and ways in which you can control the amount of chlorine you need weekly and be able to balance the up and down movement of your pH and alkalinity readings. It will require at least a couple of days a week of hands-on work on your pool but you will begin to notice cleaner and safer water chemistry than perhaps you ever have in the past.

Practical
My primary reason for reading this book was for the information on dealing with Trichlor and it’s CYA rise. The author addresses this CYA issue clearly, the solution is not easily implemented (leaving liquid chlorine for homeowner to manually add mid week or installing a feed pump hooked up to supply). Still looking for the holy grail of a non stabilized slow dissolving tablet that can be used in existing tablet feeders or floaters. The information on borates was worth the cost of the book. I will be implementing borates on my service route which should help especially with SWG pools.

not an easy text to follow
Like: giving target values instead of rangesDislike: The many charts were interesting but had little in the way of guidance for treating water.

Concise.
I purchased this for my own professional advancement. I have worked in the pool and spa business for many years but one can never stop learning about water chemistry. I like what I see so far and plan on purchasing additional copies for the store for other staff to use as a reference.
