Q: is it plastic or glass?

Its Plastic, It is not 16.9....Its just over 12oz to the very rim. But its a nice mug....just not for beer

Q: Will a 12oz can fit inside the mug? I don't want to pour into the mug but place the can inside said mug.

The actual 12oz can will not fit in the mugs that I received. If you pour the contents of a 12oz can of beer into the mug, it will fit with just barely enough room to contain the head.
