A: These seal well, and I can't think of any food-oriented liquid that would pose a threat to the plastic material.  All bets are off though, for (1) harsh chemicals or (2) pressurized contents, e.g., from fermentation, carbonation, etc.

**Q: Is there a rubber seal inside the cap?**
A: No rubber seal.  Instead, the top of the bottle fits tightly into a ring on the underside of the cap.  The cap is one-piece and made of slightly stretchy plastic.  The result is a good seal.  For a larger example, this works the same way as the caps on Gatorade bottles.
