The Witch's Cat

Flawed Story Telling and Typos
This is a cute story, sure, but itās written very poorly. The messaging is only half there. SPOILERS:Pepper the cat assumes no one wants to play with her because sheās a black cat. Does she try to get the other cats to play with her? No. Is there any reason she thinks they wonāt want to play with her because sheās black? No. Is this supposed to be some kind of subtle nod towards racism?? Idk. Idk what itās trying to do.Secondly, the witch decides to do a spell for Pepper to help her make friends. The witch mixes ingredients and says and repeats words to help Pepper make friends, then gives Pepper the potion. Later she tells Pepper she didnāt make a potion/spell and Pepper did it all on her own.... lady... mixing ingredients and saying magic words ISNT a spell???? Thatās the definition of Magic?!!? If sheād done āsomethingā in private and then told Pepper to drink maybe Iād be on board with this story line but.... idkAlso, thereās a bunch of typos when it comes to punctuation marks, Iāve added a pic of the worst one.I like the idea of this book, and Iām all for supporting independent authors which is why this book gets 3 stars instead of 1, but it was not worth the $ for me. I still read it to my son but I change the story while I read it, which is not something I wish to do for a book Iāve spent money on.Anyway. I hope this review helps someone else make a decision.Blessed Be

Adorable story & black cat info!
I purchased this for my niece. The illustrations are very sweet. Loved the theme of this story and bringing attention to black cats. The black cat facts at the back are great! However, not into all the neighborhood cats going outside and playing (thus 4 stars). I know that it's a children's book, but cats should never be allowed to go outside unsupervised for many reasons (especially if the cat isn't spayed/neutered)!1. It's dangerous for the cat- they can get run over by a car; harmed by other animals (other cats, dogs, hawks, coyotes) or people; be exposed to poisonous plants/fertilizers. In addition to the risk of contracting diseases- Feline Leukemia, Feline Aids (FIV), Distemper, Rabies, and other parasites. 2. They can harm the ecosystem by killing native birds, small mammals, and reptiles.3. If the cat is not spayed/neutered, pregnancy can occur in other neighborhood or stray cats, adding to the problem of overpopulation. Approximately 860,000 cats are killed in US shelters each year. One unfixed cat can produce up to 20,736 kittens in only 4 years. That's why fixing a single cat will help solve the problem. Female kittens can become impregnated as young as 4 months old. It's recommended to get a kitten fixed around 8 weeks old- but anytime is good! Better late than never! Also, always Adopt Don't Shop! Why breed or buy when homeless animals in shelters die?If your cat wants to go outside:1. Put the cat on a leash.2. Make sure it has rabies/flea/tick collar or medicine & that it's up to date on its vaccines.3. Never leave it unattended!I know that it's nitpicking, but it felt like letting your cat roam outside, unsupervised as this nonchalant, normalizing activity when it is very harmful.

An outstanding book for kids aged 3 to 6
An outstanding book! This book teaches us the important lesson that we should always be ourselves no matter what happens! It tells the story of Pepper the cat that is not self-confident but tries to make friends. My sister and I loved the way Aunt Glinda helped Pepper make friends. The story and the illustrations went together so well that we could see a movie in front of us! I would recommend this book to kids of ages 3-6 š

Therefore, I am under no obligation to write a positive review, only an honest one.An awesome book cover, great hand-drawn colored pictures, charming illustrations & proper font & writing style. A very professionally written childrenās (preschool/elementary age) storybook. It was quite easy for me to read/follow from start/finish & never a dull moment. There were no grammar/typo errors, nor any repetitive or out of line sequence sentences. Lots of exciting scenarios, with several twists/turns & a great set of unique characters, settings, etc. to keep track of. This could also make another great childrenās educational presentation (Self-Acceptance, Inclusion & Friendship), movie, an animated cartoon, or better yet a mini-TV series. There is no doubt in my mind this is an extremely easy rating of 5 stars.Thank you for the free author(s); FreeBooksy; Amazon Digital Services LLC.; bookTony Parsons MSW (Washburn)Snowball, Calico, Jasmine. A Heartwarming Tale About Being Yourself
This is a very cute book with lively illustrations that could be read year round, but certainly is great to throw in the rotation around Halloween. It's a story about a cat who doesn't think the other cats will play with her because she is a black cat, but she learns the lesson that she just needed to be confident and be herself. There are a few lines that might trip up younger readers who aren't having their parents read this to them, but otherwise it's well written, well-illustrated, and has a ton of heart.

Gorgeous Story With a Beautiful Message š±
What a beautiful story The Witch's Cat is, I'd give it more than 5 stars if I could! The story follows a cat called Pepper who is upset because no one wants to be friends with him so he asks his aunt to put a spell on him to give him more confidence to meet new friends.I love this story, it's lovely to see how Pepper goes from a sad and upset cat to one who's so excited to have made lots of friends and I like that it's not how he thought he made friends. This is a lovely twist to the story that gives a gorgeous message to readers that you are more than you think you are and it's always best to stay true to yourself. The illustrations are so pretty with watercolour style pictures on each page and it's fun to see a witch theme through the book but in a real world situation. The way the emotions are shown through the pictures is fantastic and it really makes you feel for Pepper and his emotions through the story.I'd highly recommend this book, such a great book to show why it's important to stay true to yourself and believe you are more powerful than you believe.

A sweet tale with cute illustrations
Pepper, a black cat, is worried that the other cats donāt want to play with her because she looks different from them. Her witch Aunty eventually agrees to cast a spell on Pepper so the other cats will want to be her friend - but only to give Pepper the courage to introduce herself to the others. A sweet tale about being brave enough to just be yourself.

Nice story but terrible editing
As a book editor with many years experience I found reading this to my grandsons really annoying. It's clearly not seen a proper editor - so many mistakes in spelling and punctuation. If I'd looked at it in a shop I wouldn't haven bought it. The story however is good, as are the illustrations, so not a complete failure.

Wonderful Story of Friendship with a Halloween Twist
I love a good Halloween book, and I especially love cats! Now throw in inclusiveness and a great children's picture book and you've got a winning mix!Pepper is a black cat living with a witch named Glinda! She's worried because she doesn't think other cats will like her because she is a black cat (those have lots of bad feelings with some people - they are scared of bad luck!). Yet she's soft, playful and fun! She asks Glinda for some help making friends, and of course her current friends is more than happy to help her get there! What a lovely story of making friends, inclusiveness and fitting in. And a halloween theme to book! Very cute, very sweet, and a lovely, easy read. Also, wonderful illustrations!Four out of five stars.
