This Brandalism Banksy Plush is a collaboration between Brandalism and Medicom Toy (Sync). This cushion is inspired by Banksy’s graffiti: Mona Lisa Bazooka. Mona Lisa Bazooka was spray painted in London around 2007-2008 in the Soho district of West London. In this work, Banksy plays upon one of the world’s most famous paintings, The Mona Lisa. In his version, the female protagonist keeps her serene calm face while carrying a Bazooka and ready to attack. While Da Vinci’s Mona Lisa appears graceful and passive, Banksy gives her a powerful, confrontational, and active sensibility. It can also be interpreted as society’s normalization of war in our time and taking a passive stand on it.
