but I was pleased with the quality and relative ease of installation
I have to admit that some of the reviews made me a little apprehensive about ordering this, but I was pleased with the quality and relative ease of installation. I did take the time to assemble the proper tools and materials for the job and have enough experience to be comfortable with an installation like this. If you're not sure about it, hiring a reputable handyman might be worth considering. The awning has withstood some pretty nasty wind and rain with no problems and the fabric has very good UV resistance. I installed it over an outward-opening door, so I had to be careful about mounting height so it would not interfere with the door, but it still low enough to provide good weather protection when opening the door while it's raining. For the price, I don't know if there's anything better out there.

Doesn't go well with an outside opening door.
I'm sure most house measurements are about the same and it would be impossible to use this with an outside swinging storm door. I put it up and that was fairly easy but then the door rubbed on it. You can only go up to your soffit so yoou are limited to how high you can raise it. I put it on a window and I really think that's what they are made for.Seems to be solidly constructed.Four stars is for not specifying that an outside swinging door might be a problem.
