Can't stop playing this game!
NBA 2K8 is the bomb! I rarely find video games that can keep my occupied but 2K8 is making a run at it. I love the feel of the game and the very few flaws of it, if any. Quality & thought was put into this game and it shows. For the PS2, this is the best basketball game that I have played.

Don't expect much...
When getting the yearly updates for sports games on last gen systems.. you really shouldn't expect groundbreaking or breathtaking new features. What you should expect is... essentially the previous year's game... with little improvements here and there. I myself found 2k8 to have smoother game play than 2k7 and worth the 20$ I paid for it. My advice is.. is you have 2k7, you should probably save the 20-30 bucks that 2k8 costs. My rating for the game is solely based on my experience playing it.. not on how much it improved from the previous year.PROS:- New dunk/shooting animations- Slightly crisper graphics and game playCONS:- Exact same intro (fan reactions, announcing, etc) for every game- AI, which is touted as "Smarter...brings the NBA to life like never before", is actually retarded as hell. You can win against the Suns or Celts on "Hall of Fame" difficulty by 40.- No Dunk contest or any of the "new" stuff Next-Gen systems received- The music is described in one word... crap- The "Association" game mode is the same of previous years. In all, the game was still a little more fun than the year before. I would suggest getting it only if you didn't get 2k7. The 2k series is still light years ahead (which is sad) of its competition and definitely more worthwhile because of its game play and price.

Not Quite As Good as NBA 2K7
Personally, I preferred NBA 2K7 over this version. Although it's easy to adjust the settings like speed, and game sliders (% FT, % 3-Point, etc.); I have trouble getting the settings to my own liking, which is a fast-paced high-percentage shots made kind of game. But that doesn't mean I don't want the computer to be challenging. And I can't figure out a ratio that I like where I don't just blow out the computer every time.

Cool game, but could use a slight overhaul
Very subtle additions to this version. It is easier for good rebounders to rebound, and the game's AI defensively has improved overall. However, I played a few games, and noticed that it was harder for me to block shots. Only one game mode has changed as there is now a playoff mode. other than that, the game is virtually unchanged from last year. Definitely could use an All-Star Weekend mode like NBA Live has, and new commentary from the announcers would make the game more interesting as well. Still, the game is very good, and there is not much to criticize here. If you have last year's version, and are looking for sweeping changes, don't bother buying it, or holdout for a used copy. Updated rosters make the game cool for Boston and Denver fans, who added new superstars.

good gameplay, but still lacking
okay to start this off i would say that i like nba 2k8 and it is a fun game to play. however there are several reoccuring problems which i have noticed and they detract significantly from the game. firstly the computer seems to commit a backcourt violation nearly every play and it goes uncalled despite the fact i have backcourts on. Also maybe i have just been playing too much ps3 but it seems like the players tend to go through each other way too much, especially during crucial plays under the basket. whats the point of playing defense if your opponent can hop step right through your 7 foot center for an easy layup every time?overall it is a good game but these little problems bug the sh¡t out of me
