Very Happy to get this book for cheap price. It was hard to find

Goodness gracious great weeping, sweeping, creeping, leaping balls of great greasy gopher pulchritudinous pulchritude by way of the best yet!!!

This is a Fantastic (no pun intended) collection. It starts off a bit slow with a few issues dedicated to the Mad Thinker (still entertaining), but really hits its stride in the following issues, with multiple issues dedicated to Galactus and The Silver Surfer, the Inhumans, and the first appearance of Annihilus. And of course the concluding stories centered around Doom are phenomenal. Great collection

From Mad Thinker to Gallactus and the Silver Surfer; from the universe of Subatomica to Latvia; fighting androids, robots, and a giant Totem; a new villain, Annihilus; an old villain, Dr. Doom; an adventure with Wyatt Wingfoot and the return of the Inhumans, this volume gives us one of the Fantastic Four’s busiest periods during the Stan Lee/Jack Kirby’s era. Kirby’s splash pages and facial close ups as well as all that fighting action is so essential to the narrative that keeps me glued. Important events also happen in this volume: the Thing stops being the Thing, at least for a couple of issues, Crystal becomes a member of the Fantastic Four, and the Richards have a child. There is also a little extra fun where Thor, Spider-Man, and the FF fight against the Dare Devil - and in this story a beautiful splash page of Thor fighting the Thing. Pure Kirbyesque fun. Quite pleased.

El penúltimo volumen que recopila la corrida de 102 números de la colaboración entre Stan Lee y Jack Kirby, este compendio muestra porqué Marvel cobró importancia con este título. Fantastic Four fue responsable en gran parte del éxito de la editorial y se puede leer a un muy buen precio.

Volume 5 of the FF Epics (actually titled The Name is Doom rather than By Ben Betrayed, if Amazon still hasn't updated its listing) is the penultimate volume of the Lee/Kirby run, and as the next one due is Volume 6, we'll soon have nice bookshelf copies of the entirety of what is a justifiably revered creative run. The last few issues of the partnership between Marvel's two greatest icons are not that great, so its nice to have this volume to show that before that, even eight years in, the book was still capable of firing on all cylinders.By this stage, there were fewer new character introductions, but that just means that the pair can focus on fun stories starring their carefully grown cast of heroes and villains. In these pages, we have great new arcs featuring the likes of the Mad Thinker, the Wizard, the Silver Surfer, Galactus and of course, Doctor Doom. That's not to say that there is NO invention - we get the first appearances of cosmic villain Annihilus and perhaps more importantly, of Reed and Sue's son Franklin.The arrival of a baby reiterates the theme of family that sets the FF apart from other team books, and allows for Susan's temporary replacement by the Inhuman Crystal, the first of many such occasional roster shakeups that would occur over the years. Touches like this, as well as the fizzing prose of Stan Lee and the endlessly imaginative art of Jack Kirby, help to keep the comic feeling fresh and unique all the way through an astonishing 87 issues.Extras include two Not Brand Echh stories, seven pages of original Kirby art and the covers of the eighth and ninth Masterwork volumes. It's wild to think that we will soon have the entirety of the Silver Age FF in Epic format (in fact, most of the Silver Age in general; nearly all of the various titles are complete through the sixties at this point). It's a great format that I've loved collecting the last few years, but more importantly, these are great stories.

NOTA DEZ para a grafica, beira perfeição a impressão dessa linha (imprimidas no CANADA) Alguns leitores e youtubers reclamam que o papel é fino, para mim está PERFEITO. Ja falei que essa linha epic collection é PERFEITA?QUEM DERA nossa principal editora aqui no Brasil e suas varias graficas chegassem a 30% da qualidade desses canadenses. Uma dica: NUNCA COMPAREM UMA EDIÇÃO DA EDITORA NACIONAL COM ESSA LINHA AMERICANA...VOCES NUNCA MAIS comprarão os encadernados nacionais. (meu caso)
