They work stunningly well
Absolutely amazing. Those completely change the look and feel of my open fire natural gas fireplace. They glow incredibly realistically, making everything look dull and dim in comparison. Light ripples and they radiate so much, it's hard to stay in front of the fireplace. I grew up burning real wood for heat and I’m wary of gas fireplaces: I'm picky. This brings gas fireplaces way closer to joy of a wood fire, and adds tons of radiant heat, like a real bed of charcoal embers. I'm a huge fan.

Adds strong visual quality to your gas fireplace
I believe the installer used something like this when my gas fire logs were first installed. Over time, the logs will get dusty and dingy, and they need some cleaning. So I had to replace my embers a few years ago, and I used normal Rock Wool alone. The Rock Worked well, but it didn't have the same bright glow as these embers. Another cycle later, and I really wanted to get that bright glow back. I picked up Rock Wool for most of the fireplace. But in key areas around my flames, I picked up these embers, and they did not disappoint. First of all, I was concerned about the price. But there's a lot more in the package than you might thing. Used in conjunction with Rock Wool, I only used about a third of the package to get what I needed (my logs are 24" wide for reference). The effect is impressive. The Rock Wool glows, but not as bright. So I will call that the cooler embers in the fireplace. The Platinum Embers grow really bright, as if they are very hot embers. The effect between the two is unparalleled. So if you want a good-looking fireplace, I would highly recommend picking up these Embers to supplement and enhance your Rock Wool.

Making my own heaters has never been so easy!
I use these to make small heaters. They catalyze fuel amazingly. They are actually platinum coated and work.

Brings New Life To Your Old Gas Fireplace Insert
When we moved into our home a few years ago, the gas fireplace insert worked but did not look like the pictures (as it were). Talked to a friend who took a look at our insert and told us we needed to get some "embers" to make it look better. He recommended this product from Midwest Hearth by name. It helps to "tease" them out a bit, as a slightly fluffed-up look make the product appear more... ember-y when installed. Lasts for ages, and easy to add more when it eventually burns up. Highly Recommended!

it works for hand warmers
i bought this cause after i picked up a few hand warmers one which only worked one time because the platinum pad was very thin and kind of fell apart. after i put some of this in the warmer it worked really well, so well i just put it in the other two the same way. i will say they do burn hotter.....hot enough where you cant really hold them unless they are in the bags. im sure i can tweak the amount to get it more close to the stock temp but i dont mind the extra heat.

Great for gas fueled warmers
If you are a fan of zippo style hand warmers, these are perfect replacements for the catalyst material that eventually wears out. This kit should last much longer and be cheaper in the long run as opposed to OEM catalyst replacements.

Creates nice ember visual
I added to my gas log ember burners. Better visual when this placed on top in a feathery manner. Basically un clump and gently pull into fine strands. If I work on the gas logs I pick up this material and store separately so I can put back on top as the last step. Works well in conjunction with stock ember material.

These are so bright!
These are so bright! Amazing. Make sure to pull them apart as indicated and spread them thinly, either by themselves, or to accentuate the cheaper, among the less bright standard ceramic wool embers.
