Nifty little tach, but deep
Put this in my Crown Vic, perfect match for the 5.0 that mostly runs below 2,000 and runs out of breath at 4,000. I used an Auto Meter 2-inch cup to put it on the steering column. BUT, to do this you need to modify the tach. Start by cutting off the mounting studs (the cup will clamp the gauge in place so no worries) and removing the bulb. If you want to light up the tach, peel off the bulb sleeve and put a 194-size LED down deep in the housing. You'll have to solder some leads to the LED. Don't worry about it being too bright, it won't be. Once you've done these mods, the tach will fit in the cup.If you're cutting a hole in the dash to put this in, make sure there's lots of space back there. With the studs and socket, it's about 3 inches deep.As a tach, it works as it should. No needle bounce or lag. It does what it's supposed to, and does it well.I really should take away a star for the mounting issues, but I like tinkering with stuff.

Works great in my Ford Model A
I know. What do you need a Tach on a '30 Ford Model A for?Well while on tour we sometimes have to get on a freeway and I wanted to know how fast I am spinning the engine at highway speeds. A Model A "redlines" at 2000 rpm. This small 2" 4000rpm Tach fits the bill perfectly for me. I love the 270° needle sweep. 2000 rpm is pointed straight up.Super fast shipping by Vee Three also. 4 days from Australia to SoCal.Easy setup, you can set it for 4,6 and 8 cylinder engines, and installation.UPDATE: Been installed 2 months and I have noticed two concerns. #1 Notice in the second picture that the lens has fogged up. Not good. #2 The provided light bulb is way to dim. I replaced it with a BA7S LED which is much better.Update #2 the lens stopped fogging and all is good. I have had the Tach for ~2 ½ years now without any other concerns.

Good gauge for low revving gasoline engines
Well made gauge installed in an old Chevy 292 straight six. They redline so low anything else would have been overkill. Installation was easy.. Instructions were good, needle is responsive and it works as intended
