I prefer to sharpen chains with the tried and true round file. Most chains are Stihl brand with a few Oregon brand. Hand filing is great for me because I can hit the chain with a light file every tank or two, depending on type of wood being cut. Usually a very light pressure, one or two strokes, will do wonders for the chain. Hand filing has a tendency to leave left and right hand cutters slightly different lengths, probably due to operator being right handed. So, this abrasive wheel will bring all the cutters to the same length without overheating the cutters. The standard rocks you get with your grinder take more smaller passes to do the same job in order to prevent overheating. Well worth the money! I did purchase a diamond wheel from the same company for my carbide chains. That also works great. My opinion it the cutters are a little sharper with fewer burrs.
