Love it
I have been using this reusable razor for six years. I tried another brand before this, and it fell apart. This is the best quality reusable razor that I have used. The only thing is that the blades need to be replaced. This product has saved me over $200 in the last six years!

Little to no skin irritation!!
I bought this as I was getting frustrated with the price and skin irritation from disposable razors, and it has been an unbelievably good experience. It takes a few shaves to get good with it, but I would Highly recommend Lord Safety Razors!

Great value!
This razor gets four stars because of its shaving performance and its value.(If you want to read a different review with helpful photos, see the following blog (substitute a period for the [dot]s: http://shavelikegrandad[dot]blogspot[dot]com/2014/08/lord-lp1822l-redux[dot]html.)As has been noted, the head on this razor is very similar to that on a German-made Merkur. I own a Merkur Classic (model 33C), and can attest that the Lord LP1822L (aka L6) shaves like my Merkur, but slightly more aggressively. Still, the L6 provides a mild shave that is not overly aggressive but is also not difficult to find the proper angle to cut whiskers well. Since my Merkur 33C cost more than twice this L6, the L6 is obviously a good value. There are important differences, however, that might explain the cost differential. The Merkur can clearly be an heirloom razor that might provide more than a lifetime of service, while the L6, properly treated (more on that below) may well last years and be passed along, but, again, special treatment may be necessary.Razor-blade fit: The L6 holds the blade firmly and edge exposure is uniform. This is a good thing.Handle length and grip: The L6 handle is generously long -- a full one inch longer than the Merkur 33c. Since some complain about the short handle on classic razors, this should make many double-edge (DE) users happy. The cris-crossed diagonal cuts in the L6 handle make a diamond pattern that, though different than classic knurling, makes for a fine grip wet or dry.Finish: The L6 handle is clearly aluminum and appears unplated, uncoated, while the Merkur is chromed. The head of the L6 appears chromed, and in comparing it to the 33C, the only difference in finish quality that I can see is that on the ends (the narrower sides) of the base and top plates, they don't have a smooth, mirror finish. But if this bothers you a lot, you may have larger issues than getting a good shave at a value price. But some other, more important concerns have been raised by others that deserve attention:1. Insufficient thread interlocking between head and handle: This appears to have been a manufacturing issue that may have been resolved or at least improved. Certainly there is adequate but not generous thread engagement in the razor that I received: about four turns of the handle snugs it to the razor head (not four full revolutions, but four twists of the hand). This is fewer turns to secure than is required on my Merkur 33C -- and the 33C has a steel handle, which will be more durable than the aluminum of the Lord L6. I would suggest buying the razor from a seller with good customer-satisfaction ratings, and if this short-thread issue arises at or near delivery to you, you can get a replacement as has been done in the past.2. Aluminum handle instead of steel: Here is where user care may make the difference. Yep, aluminum doesn't have the strength or toughness of steel. If you cross thread or over tighten, the handle will be toast. Also, the threads may not feel as silky smooth as you turn handle on and off the razor head. To address these issues, I suggest the following:a) When you first get the razor and periodically thereafter, apply petroleum jelly with a toothpick to the threads of the handle. I do this when I change blades, which is about once per week of continuous use. (I also do this on more expensive razors that have all-steel components.)b) Tighten carefully. Compress the top and base plates together with your fingers as you tighten and loosen the handle. This takes any strain off the aluminum threads. Then stop tightening as soon as the handle engages the base plate; NO ADDITIONAL FORCE IS NECESSARY!If you do these things, you will likely get more extended use from this razor.3. Weight and balance of the razor is respectively less and different than other similar designs because of the aluminum handle. Yes, it's true; my Merkur 33c weighs 57 grams, while the Lord L6 comes in at 44 grams -- roughly 20% lighter. It may be true that the mass of a heavier razor helps keep the blade from bumping over stubble when using extremely light pressure against the face, but I don't believe this comes into play for most shavers with most reasonable-quality razors including this one. However, preference vary.Find the right blade for you in this razor and you should be a happy shaver. This razor gets four out of five stars because of its shaving performance and its value. The aluminum handle, though generous in length and with adequate grip, may have its threads stripped over time from overtightening or simply contant use. This razor is an excellent purchase as a travel razor over the long haul, or as an every-day razor if you are willing to accept it as something less than a lifetime razor. I feel this purchase was money well spent, and heartily recommend this as a first DE or another option to add to your collection.

Great value for the money, a very nice razor.
I bought my husband a Merkur for Valentine's day, 2011. He loved it so much that I bought myself one of that same model. The craftsmanship and beauty of the Merkur won me over not to mention the exceptional reviews given to the particular Merkur razors that I ended up going with. The only thing I didn't like about the Merkur was the price. The particular model Merkur I selected cost around $32 back in February. However when I purchased mine in July it had gone up to around $36 or so. Fast forward to making Christmas plans when I decided that we were enjoying the comfort of wet shaving so much that I would put together a wet shave kit for the sensitive-skinned guys on my shopping list. Feeling the pinch of the tight economy and hoping that the Merkur model I was so fond of had dropped back down in price I hopped online to Amazon only to discover that now the same model razor was going for around $42 each. No way, I thought so I went in search of a good quality, economical razor. I had completely overlooked and not even noticed the Lord before. For the price I assumed it must be a piece of junk and so I went on in search of a high quality razor even if a bit pricey. Even though the Lord was enjoying several good reviews here on Amazon I was still afraid of getting what I paid for if I went cheap. After reading everything on Amazon written about the L6 Lord though I thought it was at least worth researching a bit more. After browsing a few different wet shaving sites I decided to put my question to the wet shaving, double edge blade loving crowd at Badger & Blade. What I received back in answer to my question were many very honest opinions regarding the Lord. Firstly, the guys who responded insisted that I get the Merkur-type head of the L6 and not the tech head available on what I believe is the previous model (the L5 I think?). Overall, everything they said sounded like this was one really good performance razor that while lacking in the craftmanship and beauty as compared to a Merkur, was still nice looking. I'd like to think of it as comparing a Mercedes Benz to a Honda. I needed four shave kits and needed a good quality, nice looking razor that would look great in a shave kit, perform extremely well, and cost enough to allow room in my budget to add soaps, dishes, badger brushes, razors etc... So I took the plunge and bought four. After tucking them away in my "Christmas storage space" I pulled them out a week or so ago. My husband and I decided to pull them out of the packaging (which looked cheap anyway and had obviously bad grammar printed on the back - I'm no grammar snob but this was pretty obvious). We placed each razor in it's little decorative box to create the shave kit along with the other goodies. I have to say that I agree with the boys at Badger & Blade. The razor is heavy but not nearly as heavy as the Merkur (actually I think it's better and the Merkur is too heavy). It has a nice weighted balance and a nice overall feel to it - it doesn't feel cheap at all. It isn't tacky in the least. In fact it looks awfully good (just don't hold it next to the Merkur or it does look fairly plain). My husband and I even ran the head of the Lord against our palms to get a feel and both admitted that if it wasn't exactly the same as the Merkur it was close to it. No, the craftsmanship isn't there the way it is in the Merkur. In a few of the razors the head isn't perfectly aligned just right, the decorative pattern on the handle feels like it's going to give you a "paper cut" if you slide it through your hand too fast, and it may have a few nicks here and there. But, despite all of that it's truly a great razor. It has character, it feels balanced and friendly in your hand, and it promises to deliver a great shave which I have no doubt it will. For me it was very simple - either find an affordable razor or find some other gift to give. I've bought four and well, although I don't regret buying the two Merkur razors, they are great but for the money I do honestly believe the Lord L6s will turn out just as well (although not as pretty).P.S. I'm going to try my best to remember to come back and update after the gift giving to see how the guys like their razors and how well they shave.

Smaller than stated
The razor is very small. From the looks of the package the made the razor handle smaller but still kept old packaging???They obviously didn't update the specs. This is why buying online sometimes is harder than in person. My rating is on the description and not the actual product.
