Transformers: The IDW Collection Volume 7

I'm only two thirds of the way through here, but the stories I've read so far are great. I particularly like the Zombie Plague aspect of the early story. The art is as usual amazing and suits the Transformers well.

Despite having a very nice cover and the great 'Ironhide' mini series this is probably the weakest of the IDW collection's so far.'Infestation' seems almost randomly slotted in at the beginning and hasn't got the best animation style in the series and seemingly kills off Kup...by some crappy vampire thing I have never heard of!!! Big minus for that!!!'International Incident' is an opportunity lost in many ways - it features the Combaticons...but hardly any combat or action!!! The Predacons are used almost as a cameo and the story focuses too much on the dull human characters as opposed to the actual Transformers which 100% of the people buying this would prefer it to concentrate on!!'Revenge Of The Decepticons' is a great story and saves a little face for the rest of the collection although it strangely has you rooting for the Decepticons and that they will avenge themselves on the humans, especially the very dislikeable Spike Witwicky!A lot of the characters don't seem to be themselves in this collection. Optimus Prime is a bit of a wuss here, Bumblebee is more annoying usual and Jazz kills someone! It suffers perhaps as it is the seemingly penultimate 'Earth based' collection and that the IDW writers had hit a brick wall before deciding on concluding it very effectively in Collection 8. None of the stories really flow and very little revelations or unexpected twists or plot turns arise.Definitely for collectors' but not the best place to start in this franchise by a long shot.

IDW's Transformers keeps going from strength to strength in Volume 7. If you want awesome Transformers stories then you need to get these IDW Collections.

I love this series. Each volume is worth the price to get the full effect of the story. They are well made and look great lined up together on my shelf. I own every available one so far with the newest one pre-ordered on Amazon. The IDW comics really do a great job at telling new and exciting stories about familiar and lovable characters with notable nods and references to the roots of the every expanding Transformers universe. Just be sure to read the volumes in order as there are arcing stories throughout them.

And YES,It is a must for every transformers fan.Pages are in impecable condition. It even has a foreword from the artists in the beginning. And for all those thinking there are no cover arts. YES they are IN there.I love the hard covers of each Volume. A Decepticon / Autobot stands out with its massive bust. Way cool.My only hope if they would release the G1 Comic Encyclopedia again MTMTE Volumes, and in this very way. (But thats another story)---------------About the shippment.I am from Chile and I requested this comic through Amazon.The comics did arrive in the nick of time (even earlier than I expected) and in impecable condition.So.. Five Stars for this...............One important notice.For all you transformers fans. I would highly recommend to buy these editions now. They are invaluable.If you wait too long (maybe a couple of years), maybe its value would raise too much and two things might happen.I will be out of stock! You might find it for an absurd price like it happened on the More Than Meets the Eye Transformer encyclopedia. (Right now the prices is very reasonable).And I will end once again. It's very much worth it.

disclaimer up front, you will ONLY be able to groove with this series if you've actually read the rest of the IDW Transformers series, it's not really easy to jump into unless you know what's been going on beforehand, but if you are an avid reader of the IDW material, this is another great addition to the story. IDW is in my personal opinion the publishers of some of the smartest Transformers comics ever, and while some of the material in this volume isn't up to previously set up standards, it's still better than alot other material on the market.

IDW's Transformers comics have had high and low points over the years. This volume is not one of the best but contributes to the overall storyline well. It gets five stars because it is beautifully put together and is the definitive way to read IDW's storyline. Start from Volume 1 to get the complete tale.
