Finally A Philosophical Visit To Silent Hill
This is truly a great read for longtime fans of the Silent Hill franchise. In addition to being a pleasant walk down a truly nightmarish memory lane for former visitors to that "special place", it takes a fresh new approach to the philosophical aspect of the series. I would say that as the reviewer before me pointed out, hardcore fans will be much more fond of this book than newcomers or fans only of the film, but either way it's an intelligent look at the survival horror genre in general, and Silent Hill in particular. Welcome Back to the spookiest little town ever to grace a video game!

Good book as described arrived fast

A must-read for any Silent Hill fan.
Really good read for a Silent Hill fan, although it would appeal most to someone obsessed with the series. I like how this book covers how the series relates to so many different contributions to the genre, not just Session 9 and Jacob's Ladder. It offers something different, which is important because all of the typical talking points for SH have been exhausted over the years since the series abandoned subtle references after SH4. The only flaw is the somewhat grainy picture quality.

its good, could be more in-depth as a criticism
I bought this book off amazon a couple years ago; its good, could be more in-depth as a criticism...but why is the price so inflated?

A decent analysis
An interesting analysis of the Silent Hill games 1-Homecoming from a cinematography point of view. Unfortuantely, the author continually compares Silent Hill to Resident Evil, which is an exhausted argument and is the same as comparing apples to oranges

Film School Analysis
I couldn't connect with this book. I've played the whole series and am always looking for new angles and new information about it, but I didn't get any of that with this book. The chapters felt thematically disorganized, switching back and forth between turgid analysis and breathless descriptions of how cool the author's experiences with the games was. The book is full of words like "ratiocination" that seem chosen to alienate the reader. Guess I'm not the target audience.

Interesting book about silent hill saga
I feel like the content is quite good. As usual, Perron brings us an interesting study of the horror genre. The book quality is good but I have to say that the book cover is a bit meh.

One of the worst things I have ever read
An awful, padded and incredibly idiotic "study" written by someone with some deep misunderstandings of the content of the first four gamesAn absolutely exhausting read that will do nothing but infuriate anyone who has truly sat down and tried to engage with these games.Avoid like the plague, do not waste your time

For Fans of the Series
A good read for any fan of the series, giving some good critical insight into the first three games, but mostly consists of a general overview of the motifs, themes, and horror techniques. However, it's in need of some editing, and I believe I've even spotted an informational error or two.
