LOVE
One of my favorite movies of all time. Love the geekiness, the puppets, the strong character development/archetypes, all of it. This movie single-handedly made me fall in love with Mila Kunis as well, perfection. What happened to light-hearted, well made, feel good movies like this?! 10/10

I thought that I was going to see a movie that has been done a million times and will laugh at a few dirty jokes. Surprisingly e
The story line of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is nothing completely new or all that complex. The movie starts off with Peter Bretter, played by Jason Segel, who ends up getting broken up by Sarah Marshall, played by Kristen Bell, his celebrity girlfriend of 5 years. I thought that I was going to see a movie that has been done a million times and will laugh at a few dirty jokes. Surprisingly enough, Jason Segel knows his way around writing and acting. For a man who has never played a lead character or written his own screenplay he was very impressive. One thing that not everyone realizes is that the full frontal nudity scene was not in the movie just for laughs. We have him nude in the beginning because Sarah has completely stripped him of everything and she couldn't accept who he really is, his true nakedness. And if you watch the movie (I don't want to spoil it too much) you will see this motif happen again later in the film. Yes, it is very funny to see Peter standing naked while he is getting dumped, but it also served a purpose.Throughout the film we get witty and fresh characters that continue to make us laugh. The bar tender from South Central always stirs up laughs and the Christian couple on their honeymoon will have you grabbing your sides. Not to mention the incredible character of Aldous Snow played by Russel Brand. I know many people are not a fan of Brand, but my friends and I just can't get enough of him. His amazing improv throughout the film and ridiculous attitude is all part of his humor. If some of you are asking how it stands up to the other comedies of the year, I must say FSM trumps all. Tropic Thunder is a close second for me, but the closeness that this will have with people that have gone through difficult breakups will have them laughing a bit more.Last thing I want to say is the three disc collectors edition is well worth every penny. All the special features are hilarious and definitely worth the view. They share stories of Russel Brand's first audition to how Jason felt watching his nude scenes with his mom and little sister. We also get some insight from Nick Stoller and how he felt directing his first film and being part of the Apatow gang. The best part about this DVD, and should be true about all other Unrated editions, is that you can choose to watch either the unrated or theatrical version. Personally I prefer the theatrical version because it flows better, but give the unrated a view for their extra jokes. "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" is a film that will not soon be forgotten.

Funny, but Unrated Doesn't Add Much
Nicholas Stoller’s 2008 film “Forgetting Sarah Marshall” follows a script from Jason Segal and was produced by Judd Apatow. It captures the late-2000s humor of Apatow and Segal while also examining the incestuous nature of Hollywood relationships, where everybody knows everyone else and may have at one point dated them. The story begins with actress Sarah Marshall (Kristen Bell), who appears in a CSI-style show, breaking up with her composer boyfriend, Peter Bretter (Segal). Bretter begins a slow decline into depression until his step-brother, Brian (Bill Hader), convinces him to take a vacation. He goes to Hawaii where he runs into Sarah. Rachel Jansen (Mila Kunis), a hotel receptionist, takes pity on him after Peter discovers that Sarah has been seeing Aldous Snow (Russell Brand), a self-involved singer, since before they were technically broken up. Peter begins working on rediscovering a sense of joy, befriending Jansen and a waiter named Matthew Van Der Wyk (Jonah Hill), who’s a fan of Aldous, a bartender named Dwayne (Da’Vone McDonald), and Chuck/Kunu (Paul Rudd), a surf instructor. He also helps a newlywed couple (Jack McBrayer and Maria Theyer) who struggle through their intimacy issues. The film epitomizes comedy from this era while Segel’s interest in muppets (his character wants to make a Dracula-themed rock opera with puppets called “A Taste for Love”) is a clear forerunner to his work on “The Muppets” (2011), even singing the Muppet theme at one point. This unrated version includes more of Peter’s efforts to move past Sarah by hooking up, an extended scene with Kristen Wiig as a yoga instructor, and more explicit language. Very little of the story itself is changed, however, so those who enjoy Segal’s humor will find this more of the same.

unforgettable underrated
The movie isnt perfect " hence 4 stars" The cast is absolutely incredible and their roles are all memorable. This romantic comedy starring a seagull, a euro superstar comedian, and two polar opposite looking goddesses is just a fun if not mildly sad story. Cheaters be cheatin'. Seagul man is very underrated and i feel his starring role in this movie is a testament to that. His is charming in the a little too talented of an everyman kind of way, heartbroken and relatable. Kunis does what she does best. Show strong feminine personality of hers . She comes off as capable, stubborn, adventurous and confident in a realistic if not exaggerated way. Brand is what he always is. smooth, hilarious, and eccentric. hes just being a version of himself and i love it. Kristen bell.... i might be bias here as shes probably my favorite actress of the last 10 years regardless of her movies usually not being box office smashes and her roles typically being cliche. Something about her is intoxicating, even this role of a wannabe movie star who leaves her trusting and loving boyfriend for a super slick russel brand somehow doesnt come off that bad. She really is the bad guy here and i still love her. She garners empathy regardless of her actions.Watch it, love it, rewatch it! also enjoy the supporting cast as they are all great!

I think this film stands out
I saw this on t.v then bought the dvd, as this film can be applauded for touching on the subject of Mens' Mental Health... not saying it's the deepest film you'll ever watch, but it does well to combine expected humour & hilarity with the very relevant subject of mental health in men in today's difficult world of changing social gender roles - (The biggest risk to every man you know, age under 55 is suicide, please get the men in your life to talk, thankyou)

Good film - watch at least once!
Good film - worth watching at least once. Love Russell Brand and Kristen Bell who along with Jason Segel turn in excellent performances in my opinion. Not sure I'd watch the DVD again though and has quickly since gone off to the MusicMagpie in the sky.....!!

I now love the Muppets.
Jason Segel is my spirit animal and my future husband even though I'm hetrosexual.Hilarious film. Brand tends to play the same character in every movie but you can't help but love Segel's goofy persona! One of my favourite purchases.
