You Gets What You Pays For
Anyone expecting woncderful high quality scans from their old film negs may look elsewhere. If you don't care much for quality, and just want to stick some old negs onto a thumbdrive, then this will be something worth considering.Over all the product does a good and fast job. The variety of adapters allows for various film types, and the device is simple to use and set up. You can easily scan through dozens of negs in minutes. But the greatest let down is twofold:> Irregularity of image tones> Dreadful loss of detail in shadow areasImages seem to vary in their tones across a single scanned strip, and that will require a lot of post production work to get a series more or less the same tones. But the biggest failing, and why I have knocked down the score, is the awful loss of detail in dark areas where noise prevalent, and strange grey specs and weird outlines appear around dark shapes. In a lot of cases shadow detail is lost completely. When scanning, you will also lose the outer parts of the negative - in other words, it wont scan a neg corner-to-corner.I have since abandoned my neg digitising project and am seeking to build a lightbox, and using a compact camera to photograph the negs in macro mode (corner-to-corner).Thanks for reading :)
