AlaffiaShampoo, Normal to Very Dry Hair, with Shea Butter and Coconut Oil, Lavender 16 Fl Oz

i’ve been looking at different non toxic shampoos for a while and doing some research on them i decided on this brand because the cost was low compared to most other non toxic shampoos. my hair used to be so thin and i’ve decided it has to be the shampoos i’ve used all my life.. so i was nervous to give this a try as other non toxic brands i read a lot about them actually not smelling good. smelling like wet dog etc.. i have to say this one smells AMAZING!! It doesn’t lather up quite like your typical toxic brands so you might have to use a little bit more than you would those others but it works! my hair feels fresh, and clean and smells amazing!

Ok, bear with me. At first it can be kind of rough. I had first purchased this a few months back because it was super on sale at Whole Foods. When I used it at that time it was pretty gross. It left my hair oily as if I hadn’t even washed it, and then I started getting weird build up. It sucked! But then I looked into the curly girl method (hair care method that is focused on bringing out and maintaining healthy natural curls). For this method it is very important to do a cleanse first, which consists of a clarifying shampoo with sulfates that is also free of silicones. This will prevent product build up. So anyways, I tried the “reset wash” with a cheap clarifying shampoo and purchased this one for regular use. This made ALL the difference. DO NOT SKIP THE CLARIFYING WASH. For the first few washes with this shampoo my hair was a bit oily. But after about a week it was shinier and softer than ever with absolutely no build up. It feels super clean and healthy, and I’m usually not a fan of such natural shampoos. Also, before this shampoo I was having issues with oiliness and dermatitis. The more I’d wash the oilier id get. But these ingredients are quite oily and somehow they have the opposite effect once your hair gets used to it. I think my hair/scalp was so starved of oil that it was producing a crazy amount. Now it’s so much better. I am no longer doing the curly girl method but that is irrelevant. Regardless of whether you’re doing the CG method, do a clarifying wash before using this product.

I love Alaffia. Their shampoo always hits. But this one, the first time I washed my hair, just left my hair in clumps. I have thin hair, so it looks bad when that happens. I have now started pairing it with another shampoo to thicken my hair and ensure the product does not clump up in my hair and wash off easy. That was one time, so I shall wash it again and see if its the same again.

This shampoo is amazing! I thought it was going to be too gloopy and not make lather... boy was I wrong! This stuff is smooth, lathers easy and has a light enjoyable scent. It left my hair soft & not weighed down... so glad I tried it!

The scent is amazing but what it does to your hair is not. This made my hair extremely greasy. After about 2 weeks of use it felt like I had candle wax film built up on my hair. Not for me. I do not recommend. I love this brand just not this shampoo.

This shampoo smells really nice. And I love most of this brands products. But this shampoo is not good for my hair. I have curly type 2b/c hair that is oily at roots and dry everywhere else. The soap lathers well and feels like it is cleaning, but when rinsing, it feels gross. Like it doesnt want to rinse out. It starts feeling tangly and feels like there is residue in the hair no matter how much i rinse. Conditioning doesnt help it feel better either. The next day my hair felt more normal. But day one it feels gross. Probably wont buy again. But will buy their other products still.
