Sykes: The Complete Series

At last! The whole collection obtained! Have been waiting for this for years, and finally obtained it yesterday! Although I haven't yet seen it all yet(there are 12 discs), I can assure you that what I have seen is very good, and as usual, the picture quality is excellent! There is also a booklet on the making of the series by Andrew Pixley. Anyone who likes Sykes will need no introduction. It is also a rare chance to see Hattie Jacques, Eric Sykes, and Richard Wattis. The whole thing is in colour. There are also subtitles in English, which is very helpful to me as I am HOH and have hearing aids. There is also an interview with Eric himself, and the episodes are listed inside the packaging for each series.My only grumble is the price, but if one puts subtitles in, one has to pay the cost with some producers. I would rather pay higher prices with subtitles on! Never mind, it is a valuable bonus to my increasing collection. Well done Netwerk on all accounts!

Ive been after this series for years,now i have finaly bought it,classic laughs all the way,eric sykes was a very funny man and with hattie jaques they make a great pairing as brother and sister living in the same house,ive been watching a couple of episodes every day,nice clean fun and laughs,with the late great derek guyler in most episodes ascorky the constaple

A Superb series, not shown on tv much now, the cast in this series were brillant. Nice to see the whole series back to back. But the box the DVD Are in is a real let down the discs are set two each touching one another. In effect you have 12 Discs crammed into a 6 Disc box with the discs 2 at a time touching each other. Dvd discs should be looked after and not scratched or marked. How can you do that when not enough space in box. Hence 3 stars.Plus very very overpriced paid 31.44 FOR THIS SET. Thats the BBC For you.

This is a nice set. If features all the episodes to the series, some of which I have never seen due to my age. Now I am waiting the serving episodes of Sykes and a... (1960–1965) to be released. From what I have read, Sykes had the same premise as Sykes and A... and also starred Eric Sykes and Hattie Jacques together.This is like Happy Ever After: The Complete Collection and Terry & June: The Complete Collection. Both of which starred Terry Scott and June Whitfield.

I wasn't sure about the price of this Sykes series but it is very comprehensive with very many discs & comprehensive viewing notes. Although the Sykes humour is a bit hit & miss its still quite enjoyable. Main problem is removing discs from the clasp, they are very firmly held and are difficult to release. Seems a common problem with releases from Network lately, a disc spilt in half when trying to remove it from a Birds of a Feather package.

This has got to be one of the best sit-coms of yesteryear. Superb & at times, very cleverly written indeed. Many great & familiar faces pop up through out the series. Considering it's age, the quality of both picture & sound is great. Every episode is a winner. A tad expensive but definitely worth buying as you're sure to watch it over & over again.

All 68 COLOUR episodes and some wonderful extras and a booklet makes this boxed set a must. 12 discs in a rather strange box. Highly recommended.
