I do not know if it fits gas but it fits duramax diesel.

is there a housing gasket as well?

I do not recall a gasket on the thermostat housing. Both the intake manifold and the thermostat housing are a machined surface and I did not purchase a gasket when I replaced my thermostat. I would not have reused a gasket so this tells me a gasket is not used. Tim
