Lots more than a month of meals
I have struggled to come up with an interesting, varied menu plan for myself. Here's the solution to that problem. This is a great resource for anyone, not just diabetes patients, trying to follow a balanced, calorie controlled eating plan. There are over a hundred suggestions each for breakfasts, lunches, dinners, and snacks, plus a selection of menus for special occasion meals (such as holidays, family gatherings, and picnics). Each entry gives the complete menu for that meal plus any needed recipe right with the entry. In addition each entry gives basic nutrition information (calories, protein, fat, carbohydrates,fiber, etc.).The menus are based on a 1500 calorie daily goal, but there is an easy to follow chart showing how to adapt the plan to 1200, 1800, and 2100 daily goals. There are also brief introductory sections discussing how the menus work, suggestions for eating out, and other useful topics.Pros:Easy to useGreat varietySimple to follow recipesGood index based on main ingredientsReliable informationManageable sizeCons:Most recipes are for more than 1 serving, typically 4 or more. Not all are useful as leftovers.If your main method for controlling your blood glucose is counting carbs, you'll have to do a little extra work. Carbs are listed for each menu, not for each item on the menu.Not everyone agrees with the low fat, moderate protein approach this book takes. If you have found more success strictly limiting carbs this book will be less helpful to you.I highly recommend this to anyone seeking help planning interesting and varied menus that control calories.

Ease in followthrough to always be ready with smart choices;
This seemed a little trite and trivial at first with obvious repeated choices BUT it isn't that at all. So many detailed simple choices that keeps you always having a choice instead of grab and run. This will make it very hard to mess up; I'm not at all displeased with the way it's put together and I know these meal choices will make the whole process successful to controlling diabetes with macro's. Thanks to the author who understands the need.

Easy to Use
My dad has type 2 diabetes. I have been using this book for a few weeks now to cook for him. It has been amazingly easy to use. My dad has enjoyed every meal I have made for him. The plan contains all the food he normally likes, nothing strange or exotic. There is a variety of menu plans so you have a lot of freedom to make your own daily menu. Included are menus that use restaurant foods or frozen dinners. My dad doesn't really care for frozen dinners but I like the option of a meal that can be super quick but healthy for those days when timing isn't working out for me. The menus have the nutritional values which make it super easy to plan for the day, (I actually plan a week at a time). I have also enjoyed many of the meals with him. They are delicious, pleasing to the eye and filling as well as being easy to put together. There are several recipes included with the menus which are clearly written and easy to follow. My dad has gotten morning readings of 90 to 95 consistently since I began using the menu planner. I am very happy with this cookbook.

A Great Solution to a Long-Standing Problem
With neither the time nor the inclination to balance my meals with this many fruit servings, that many vegetable, protein, etc., this book has solved my problem of what to eat. Pick any breakfast, any lunch, any dinner, and go. The book tells me what to eat and how much of it. The BEST part is that I feel terrific. Since I am getting nutritionally balanced meals, cravings are not an issue. I am dropping weight steadily as a result, and increasing my activity level is coming naturally. Many of the recipes are delicious and the variety is wide so that I don't get bored with what I'm eating. I take the time to plan a week's worth of daily menus and put together my shopping list from that. As a result of not buying things just in case I might need or want them (because if they're not on my menus they do not need to be in my shopping cart), my grocery bill has gone down. I highly recommend this book for anybody, diabetic or not, who wants to follow a healthy meal plan.

Helpful
This book isn't exactly what I expected but, it is helpful. One thing I didn't expect that is a plus, it lays out all the nutritional values for each meal w/ the recipe. Unfortunately though, I'm a little confused about the amount of carbs being so high for some of the meals or total daily value in their example... my doctor's office had said 150 or less per day and these daily values are totaling over that, w/out any snacks in the total (although they do have a snack section in the book). The book is in good condition and arrived promptly so, I have no qualms w/ the company that mailed it to me (Goodwill of NNE).

Best Meal Plan Book Around!
Best meal plan book I own & and I have about 10! My acupuncturist recommended this as a way for me to reduce my calories but still be balanced with my nutritional intake. I'm not diabetic, but I am tired of all the diets out there that say it's a life plan. This book is the life plan book!! Interesting meals - some take longer to prepare than others - but there are so many quick meals too. Some foods are eliminated (junk food, processed), but otherwise, the variety is astounding. I lost 6 pounds my first week & that was with a little extra on my plate! I feel terrific & just need to focus on my discipline. Totally recommend this book for everyone - diabetic or not.
