Do these work for lefty groomers?

This is not for left handed grooming. I even tried them that way and did not work. Also the thumb and finger openings on handle is designed for right hand.

Would someone explain the reason for choosing the upward or downward curved chunker ?

Aids in beveling and softening the look. At least that’s my reasoning.

How often can these be sharpened before needing a new pair? Im interested in buying all 5

I would say every couple of months. All of my shears and chunkers have been sharpened over the past 4 years and I haven't needed to replace them. You need a good sharpener person.
