COLDSTEEL Cold Steel Bushman Knife With 7" Blade Secure-Ex Sheath 14.75in. x 3.5in. x 2.25in.

First off, it’s made in China, so the expectation was low. Out of the box, the blade contained a very tight plastic sheath able to be clipped onto a belt, or attached to a button. It appears sturdy enough and contains smaller 2.5inch ferrocerium fire steel and the handle has a decent size hole for a lanyard. This fits securely along the false edge of the sheath. A very nice touch. I worked for 5 min to cause a spark unsuccessfully but this is normal for new fire starters. The blade edge itself was lightly covered in a protective jell, and you can see minor imperfections in the cutting edge and some light oil will stay on the blade in the sheath protecting the blade from rust. The imperfections are fixed by a quick unprofessional sharpening. The knife itself is decently balanced and the handle is hollow with a small hole on the side. Perfect for putting a broom handle in to convert the knife to a spear with the hole a good size to put a screw through the wooden broom to keep it in place. If sheathed, a simple waterproof container with thread, needles, fishing line and hook (plus the screw) can be fitted inside and capped of by a wine cork (good for a bobber). The high carbon steel has a black matte finish and won’t slip out of your hands. Overall the quality is great and I am very pleased.

This is just a great piece of knife work, it serves as a survival tool (knife, axe, spear (lance really)) and a great conversation piece in the man cave. I'm going to buy four of these for my brothers as Christmas presents since they are great fun. By the way this knife is very well made, I'm having a bit of fun with it, but in a pinch I would sure be glad to have one with me; its great carbon steel (almost indestructible), super strong, sharp, and built to work and sharpen easily.

I own many knives.. i may even have a knife fetish. I find these Coldsteel bushman blades to be FAR beyond premium. Wetherbin The Alaska bush on a moose hund or at cabin prepaeing a meal these knives are unbreakable ans SHARP.. i currently own 7 bushman. They are in my kichen drawers. My trucks, my quads, and rucksacks. I even purchase a few as gifts. These are well worth the money and easily custom modified. Pitch your stainless junk and go back to high carbon. You will be happier in kitchen

An excellent all around tool. Takes a great edge. Makes a great spear with a shaft. Fits well in the hand. Flexible enough not to break but strong and durable. Sharp enough for kitchen work. Nice chopper outdoors. I throw it by the handle at about 14 ft. It sticks consistently into hard wood! My favorite around the dooryard knife!

Whether it is one of their High-End (and high-priced) Katanas from The Emperor Series or the San Mai Steel Black Bear Classic (which makes me drool a little when I think about it), or one of their "Mid-Range Priced" Models such as The Finn Wolf and/or The Finn Hawk (both are their take on the Classic Finnish Puukko) OR The Original Cold Steel Finn- The Finn Bear (which other than materials it is made of, is just as much a puukko as any of the dozen or so puukko/leuku that I've purched from Finnland/Sweden/Norway), down ro their "Modest-Range Priced" pieces such as their Spike Models on down to this Guy, RIGHT HERE... THE COLD STEEL. BUSH-MAN... I definitely pirchased this piece due to its low, low price point and the fact that it was that price AND made by Cold Steel. I figured if anything, I'd just beat the Hell out of it and hang it out in the barn as a yard work tool. However, this this is Super Bad Ass! As with all Cold Steel products, Spooky Sharp, right out of the box and it even has a cute little ferro rod on the pine of the sheath. With most Cold Steel knives that I've purchesed (I am unofficially collecting them now), the spine on the blades are nice, 90° squares, PREFECT for fire starter stick and this one comes with one. I had to hold it in my hands before realizing that the damned thing is in fact an actual Spear Head!!! Literally!!! And I didn't realize this before ordering it. So that was cool! And if you don't make a spear from it, you can stuff some Rambo Knife-Type Survival Gear in the hollow handle. Ya know, like... fishing hooks, water proof matches, Pineapple Express, sewing needles fishing line & sewing thread, etc, etc, etc... All I did to add on to it (I wouldn't even say that I modified it) was wrapped a paracord handle on it, using my favorite paracord handle wrap style and also made a little lanyard/fastener for the little Ferro Rod. Both done with my favorite, awesome, camo paracord with the fishing line/sewing thread/fire starter kindle all bundled inside of the paracord, its self. I typically don't like the hard plastic sheath similar to rje ones Cold Steel uses on like ALL OF THEIR SHIT, but I'm trying to adapt and adjust to their "Secure Ex" Brand of knife case (my GF chuckles and/or blushes every time I say sheath. Ask google what it means in German) I usually toss the hard plastic/soft nylon cord-like material sheaths that most knives come with, whether they are MOLLE Compatible or not, and custom-make a leather one...just for that specific knife. For me, this is part of the fun almost every time I get a new blade. However, I can honestly say that the only Cold Steel Knife that I made a new Leather Sheath for was my Finn Wolf. And that's because it's a pocket folder and utilizes a pocket clip instead of a Secure-Ex. And it is a damned sturdy pocket clip at that. But it gave me an excuse to get into my leather tools and start measuring dimensions and cutring shit up! Anyways...In closing, I realize that I kinda gave my brief review of Cold Steel in general instead of the BushMan. So... sorry about that! No, I'm not. Well...Not really, but what ever... Did I mention that they have a Bowie Blade Style at a lower price too? It migjt cost less because it comes without a Secure-Ex Sheath? I could be just pulling out of... um, thin air... But I do recall it being about the same size blade... Just a Bowie, if that's your thing... It is not mine... I won't buy a Bowie Knife until I find a True One, to Jim's Specs. Ultimately for The BushMan - Quality to Price, Dollar For Dollar, this is a MUST HAVE for any Out Doorsman (or Woman), so just spend the $20 or whatever and buy it. If you tend to go deep into the woods when you camp or fish or what ever, you'll be so glad you did... Trust Me, I wouldn't stear ya wrong. And my biggest flaw is that I just care too much for my loved ones. Namely, who ever is still reasing my long ass ESSAY of a knife review! I am gonna leave you folks with 3 more words. These 3 words best describe the Cold Steel BushMan best, IMO... But first, thanks for actually reading this if you actually have! Those 3 words? MADE FOR BATONING

Cold steel bush man in the description it says the knife is ground honed then buffed by hand. The one I received was ground only. That being said its still a nice knife for the price and is sharp just not razor sharp as the listed step would have achieved.
