A convenient adaptation of a tool I use frequently.
I'll start by saying I'm a contractor that needs a good sharp chisel handy pretty often and I'm picky about the tools I use because when I buy something I expect it to last a long time of frequent use. With that said, this fits the bill. I've had one of these for a couple years now and it held up great. Kept an edge longer than expected and it sharpened with relative ease. It lasted long enough to get stolen from one of my trucks along with a small fortune of other tools. This little guy was one of the first things I replaced. I really like how it folds together which, for me, makes keeping it in my tool belt less cumbersome than a traditional chisel. Traditional chisels can cut up and fray a lot of tool belts and bags as well. This is great for general use but it doesn't replace a quality set of wood working and joinery chisels though.Furthermore, it's ok for lite general use but I wouldn't suggest whaling on it with a framing hammer or doing any timber framing.

Love little inventions like this
Is this the best chisel i own? - NoWould i use this for high-end projects or dovetails? - NoDo i pull this out before any other chisel when on the jobsite? - Heck Yeah! It's super convenient to fold up and toss back into my tool bag, without worrying about cutting anything or damaging my pouches. I wouldn't go to town on it with a framing hammer, but it's well built and can stand up to moderate use without a concern. If you're the 'gadget guy' on site, get this bad boy and show it off

Very handy
Because of the folding design I can keep it in my tool bag. Not a fine woodworking tool, but great for carpentry. Plan on sharpening it. You can hammer it lightly, but not like you can with a reinforced handle chisel.

A MUCH BETTER MOUSE TRAP
Every once in awhile somebody remakes something that changes everything about it . This is one of those times . I always had a love hate relationship with chisels . I want one in my tool belt all the time but they don't always fit well . They are sharp and will cut you and your tool belt every chance they get . In my case I have dulled more chisels when they were laying in my tool box or falling out of my tool belt then from actual use . Enter the fast Cap line of chisels . Suddenly chisels fit in your tool belt . And they stay in your tool belt until you need them . They don't cut anything you don't want them to cut anymore because they are protected when closed up . But wait there's more . These things actually work really well . The handles will take all the beating and more that any sane man will ever throw at them . They sharpen well and stay sharp at least as long as any other chisels I've used over the years . They also have a good finish on them there is still no tarnish on mine . By now other brand name chisels would be showing some sign of rust etc. One review I read mentioned that the handles didn't close all the way . Mine stayed open a little at first . Not enough to matter but with a little use they close all the way and stay that way . I also have the 3/4" chisel and plan on getting the 1/2" as well . I would love to see them come out with the 1 1/2" chisel . Buy the set because when you get one your going to want the rest .

but that isn't much good if the chisel doesn't make the cut
I haven't made up my mind about this one, yet. The folding handle is a major benefit, but that isn't much good if the chisel doesn't make the cut. Out of the box, I wasn't expecting "shaving sharp," but I don't think a new chisel should require re-grinding. The edge of the 1"-wide chisel was out-of-square by about 1/32". I would also like to know the Rockwell hardness. "Precision tool steel" isn't very informative.

Better than I thought it could be.
I am an expert carpenter with 35 years of experience. One of the guys that works for me had one of these chisels and let me borrow it. It has worked very well. I like it because I keep my chisels sharper than an ex-wives tongue and these chisels fold up to protect my hands and nail apron. I bought one of my own and consider it a vital part of my kit.

Does not hold an edge!
The design of this chisel is brilliant. I was looking for a chisel I could keep in my tool pouch without worrying about it getting dulled on other things it could hit in the bags. It was a bit expensive, but I thought it could be worth it if I could go longer between sharpenings. I Still Keep it in my pouch, but as a rather pricey beater chisel. I found that even after only using it on clean clear wood, the blade would dull very quickly. It wasn't worth getting the honing guide out all the time to keep it sharp. Now I keep it sharp enough with a belt sander to use it for everyday rough tasks that you wouldn't use a good chisel for.
