Put it through its paces on a super ... *by M***T on Reviewed in the United States on February 21, 2018* Pinpointer works great. Put it through its paces on a super muddy day for it's first go. It does well but works, but max range is 2 inches when searching a hole. It has trouble finding very small finds. I use this and a Garrett so I am able to say this is a great back up and always a plus in the field. I do find that sometimes I need to turn it back of and then on again for it to work right. Not sure why but I have to do that with the Garrett carrot too. Overall it makes for a good back up and will speed up recovery of targets. I don't mind that it can't go 3 inches like the Garrett but would have gotten five stars if if didn't have trouble with small objects. It missed a few cuff buttons the other pinpointer got but overall I am please and use it every time i am out. I have roughly 25 hours using it as of this review. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Compliments my Garrett Propointer *by T***K on Reviewed in the United States on May 29, 2015* I purchased this pinpointer when I accidentally broke my Garrett Propointer and had to send it in for warranty work. I was a little skeptical of it at first, but it soon proved to be as good as a pinpointer as my Garrett. Most of my minor gripes reflect the overall quality of the device housing... It feels a little flimsy compared to my Propointer, the battery compartment cap crossthreads far too easily (and has stripped out a little). I found that I have absolutely no use for the lanyard.Now, some find it a blessing that the Deteknix doesn't "see" tinfoil, but this is a symptom of a bigger issue... Gold. While my Garrett signals on the tiniest pieces of gold, the Deteknix does not! And the two seem to perform better on opposite ends of the scale... The Garrett really shines with low-conductors like ferrous metals, gold, lead, etc.; while the Deteknix performs better with copper, silver and the like. I had considered getting the Garrett Pro-pointer, but it cost way to much for me and let me tell you this Xpointer is phenomenal. I have had it for nearly 6 months and have had no issues with it. You can be roughly 4-5 inches from a target (depending on size) and as you get closer the beeps get closer together. There is also a vibration only feature that is really useful when hunting near people early in the morning. This little Xpointer is great.
