10 months later...
I still love these bottles. My son is now 10 months old and has been using these bottles since he was 3 weeks old. The absolute best thing about these bottles is that my son has been interchanging between breast and bottle since he was 3 weeks old and he has had no issue going from one to the other. I've heard about nipple confusion but never experienced it and I think these bottles have a lot to do with it. He drinks pumped milk from these bottles during the day when I'm at work and nurses in the mornings and nights when I'm home. The first time I gave him a bottle, I used the bottles that came with my Medela Freestyle Breast Pump - the nipples collapsed as soon as he started sucking on them. I switched to the Dr. Browns bottles immediately and my son went to town. I have used these bottles since. Yes, some of the blue decoration on the outside of the bottles has faded over time but that is not a big deal to me. I replace the nipples every 2 months or so but have been using the same bottles and parts for 10 months. I clean them in warm soapy water after every use and sterilize them in a microwave sterilizer once a week. They have held up great. No warping, no discoloration. I initially used the Philips AVENT BPA-Free Bottle Brush but I was replacing it every 2 months because the bristles kept flattening. I switched to the Munchkin Deluxe Bottle Brush about 3 months ago and haven't had to replace it - bristles still intact and it has a better nipple brush. Lastly, I use the Dr Browns microwave sterilizer, Dr Browns bottle warmer and the Munchkin Sprout Drying Rack which all work perfectly for the Dr. Browns bottle system. I recommend the Dr Brown's BPA Free Deluxe Gift Set because it has six 8 oz. bottles, four 4 oz. bottles, 10 Level 1 nipples, 4 Level 2 nipples, 4 Level 3 nipples, 4 Level 4 nipples, 6 storage caps and 5 cleaning brushes. It is available at BRU and I will be getting that for the next baby since I plan on buying a new set for him/her. Oh and for pumping mothers, I was able to pump directly into the 4 oz Dr Browns bottles while using my Medela Freestyle Breast Pump! They screw right into the pump parts. Lastly, my son never had gas issues and again, I attribtute that to these wonderful bottles. This is my first 5-star review ever - that says something.

Not the best for traveling around with, but perfect for daycare!
I have 9 of these bottles that I use with breast milk for my son while at daycare. The bottles are excellent and not difficult to use. My comments:1) Yes, the markings are not colored (just raised plastic) so it takes an extra second to measure how much liquid is in the bottle. However, correctly reading those markers requires that you're eye level with the bottle anyway, so this isn't an issue to me. If you're preparing a bottle in the dark having bold markings isn't going to help anyway.2) There are a lot of parts to clean, but it's not a big deal. I toss everything into the dishwasher (and use Cascade dishwasher pouches and white vinegar or Jet Dry in the rinse compartment; the detergent and rinses were approved by my pediatrician). I dry everything on a Munchkin drying rack. Some bottles take a little longer than overnight to dry, but it's not a big deal.3) Yes, the bottles will leak if you turn them over without the circular insert in place. I don't use the insert because I don't want anyone opening the bottle and getting any dirt into the milk. I just put the bottles upright into a Playtex bottle cooler with some ice packs and I haven't had any leaking problems going to or from daycare. I don't think I would take these to Disneyland or on an adventure where they might sit upside down for a while. However, these are perfect for daily use.4) This is by far the most used and liked type of bottle in daycare. I think 10 of the 12 infants there are using these bottles. I use the self-laminating stickers on Amazon to put my son's name on the bottles and a washable food label for the date.I do love these bottles and I'm very happy with them. I won't be bothering with another type of bottle unless I plan on traveling with a full bottle.

Love/Hate Relationship
When we registered for our first son, we didn't do much research on products, but rather took a lot of our friends advice on what to purchase, and these bottles were recommended by just about everyone. Many parents said they bought other bottles first, and had issues with gas/etc. and eventually ended up buying these, resulting in double-buying bottles. We figured we'd cut to the chase and just get these first--why bother with the others? We've used them exclusively now for 6 weeks.Pros: Our kid doesn't seem to have much gas or indigestion, and rarely spits up. Now, I can't tell you that this has anything to do with the bottles, because we haven't tried any other brand. We may have just gotten lucky with the kid. At 6 weeks though, he's eating 6 oz at a time, and never an issue. They've never leaked on us.Cons: These suckers are time consuming to clean. Maybe it's all bottles, but I absolutely detest cleaning them. You've got to clean the little holes and tube-thingy, and it takes awhile to get it all done. It is, hands-down, my least favorite parenting chore--and we cloth diaper, so that has to mean something.Overall Assessment: I feel like I'm doing something good for the kid by using these bottles--whether he needs them or not. I do hate cleaning them though, with a passion. Our solution was to purchase more than what we needed so we could run them through the dishwasher to clean from now on. With that said--you still need to clean the holes and tube-thingy with the brush first--just to be sure you get the gunk out. If you're going to get them, buy double what you think you need--even if you hand wash them, you don't have to do it as often and you're less likely to want to throw the bottles at people.
