AN HONEST REVIEW
Great feeder but is very smallSuitable for budgies but don't see this being the right size for a parrot.I like the concept of the empty shells/seeds falling into the tray. I just wish the tray could be removed from the front. Because I had to mount my feeder inside the cage, I have to remove the whole feeder often to empty the tray.

Purchased for budgies, so much better!
This is the smaller version I first purchased- I later ended up buying the larger version, too. Both work exactly like described- and they saves SO MUCH TIME sweeping around the cages. There are no longer seed shells everywhere! It's like a miracle! And let me tell you how much less seed I've had to buy! I used to waste so much seed when changing dishes- it's hard to separate out what they have shelled and what they haven't- but with this, I don't need to! It does it for me! I can see how much they've eaten, which seeds they don't like, and just top off the container. I was skeptical of the price on both the small size and the large size (large size is under a different listing and is $15ish dollars)- but I am no longer. It's worth it in just how much seed that no longer gets wasted. I love both of them and just ordered another big one- I plan on buying more big ones and removing ALL the stupid seed cups.

Could be improved.
This feeder is decent, but not great. On the positive side, it definitely saves seed vs. a bowl/trough feeder because there is little waste. It also means that we can go about a week between refills for our parakeet. On the negative side, the design could use improvement.* because the lip that the door drops into aligns with the very front, and since cage doors are on the outside, it means the feeder leans outward. That slightly hinders the gravity feed of the seed. My parakeet can still get food, but I tend to tap or shake it daily just to make a bit easier on him.* the waste drawer fits loosely. Combine that with the lean and it wants to fall out. I have to use tape to hold it in.* no surprise, since this hangers outside. Of the cage, even though it catches most of the seed waste, some still gets outside of the cage - more than an inside feeder....butnit isn't too bad.I will still use this, but I wish I didn't have to use tape 9j the waste drawer. At least I only have to replace that weekly.

It can clog up and not free feed
I still love this product. I've had it for my canaries since May and reordered in June. Today however I noticed there were no seed hulls in the discard tray. When I looked closer I noticed there was no seed in the "feeder" part. Apparently the fine chaff from the seed works it way down and can clog the opening that lets the bird peck at the seeds thereby allowing the seed to make it's way down on a continual basis. It may be because I emptied the last of a package of seed that gravity had pulled all the chaff to the bottom and I didn't notice. The seed wasn't bad and the feeder isn't bad- it is just a combination of events you should know about and just glance at on a daily basis to make sure it is still "feeding". You can see in the first picture at the tip of the arrow is the chaff accumulation preventing the flow. When I poured all this out to study it there was no moisture causing any of these problems-all was dry, good seed and chaff. Behind the arrow in the first picture you can see the seed "Packed" behind the clog. The second picture shows no seed in the "feeder" tray, another thing that alerted me. She had only been 1 day with this situation so no harm done. Just wanted ya'll to know what to look for to make sure your birdie has the food it needs. :)

Reduces both mess outside the cage and wasted seed
I like that this bird feeder has significantly the mess created by seed getting outside of the cage. The bird seed also lasts longer, because there is less waste. The only issue I has the feeder did not seem very secure since the bottom of the feeder did not quite rest on the cage door opening. My solution was to use some garden twist tie wire to hold it securely to the cage. This feeder has more than exceeded my expectations of how well it would work. To fill the feeder I can leave it attached to the cage and lift the lid to fill it. It takes a little work getting the lid back on since it fits tightly, but that is good so the lid stays on.

Great for small pellets/seed, not for medium/large pellets
I have a green cheek conure and 2 parakeets. I got 2 of these, one for the parakeet blend of feed the other for conure blend. The parakeet blend has seed with tiny pellets and works great in the feeder. I have it mounted inside the cage and take it out every 2 days to empty. It holds food for about a week and reduced the amount of shells I clean off the floor. It doesn't work for the conure food blend because it has pellets that are slightly too big.Bottom line, works great for small seeds and pellets only.

too much negative items to review with limited space.....dont waste your money
Ready... spent 40 years on the plastic injection molding business.....we did custom products that we build per the customers drawings...along the way we would advise if they wanted a cheap product to go to the molders on the other side of town... this feeder had bad engineering, causing the part to be to thin and warped so much that the mating part would not fit....my wife gave it to me and I couldn't make it fit either... poor grade of cheap plastic...how much regrind looks like too much...too fast of cycle time...drill a hole for the screw but they left a huge burr in the inside that would have to me cut off...drill speed too fast and melted the plastic....life of this product is max 6-12 months ? This makes me be a lot more careful as to what I purchase on Amazon now. with a made in China label ,should I even have thought abought buying this... Now hard lesson learned...I have to go to a pet store and open a box and look at the next one to avoid running into this mess again.. sorry folks 2 thumbs down...I wish I had more thumbs.

I've just bought my 3rd one!
I've just bought this product for the third time. This one is for my brother's birds. I love how we can install this outside the cage so it takes no room away from birdy. However I do have to customize it to fit in between the cage's wires as it it too big to fit in one one the feeding doors. It is worth the trouble. It really minize the mess and it is so much more affordable than the acrylic ones. I'm very happy with this product. I will buy again if the occasion presents itself..

Save on Cleaning
This product reduced the seeds from scattering by at least 90%. Its been a blessing. Without it I was vacuuming 10 to 12 times a day around the cage, but onle 1 time with this new feeder. It's a touch large so if you have a small cage be careful, it might take up most of your feathered friends space, but I'm sure they'll let you know lol. Great buy!

Does what it says
A great invention! It separates seeds and hulls and and has a continuous flow of seeds just like it says it does. I have two budgies and now I only have to fill up the container every 10 days or so. The tray that catches the hulls I empty about every five days . This feeder makes less mess and less things to do, and keeps the bird poop out of the food .

No mess!
My canaries and finches would leave a mess of seeds shells around the cage, but this feeder it just perfect. The birds go inside and the side walls contain the spill, plus it has a drawer at the bottom that pulls out so you can top off the feeder. It will pay for itself in no time as there is no food wastage.i only wished I had ordered it sooner.
