After reset/programming and sitting ~30s , it shows an "a" and doesn't work (manual won't work). Ideas?** A: The 'a' indicates that the timer is locked. The timer auto-locks after 30 seconds. To unlock, you have to press the "C/R" key repeatedly (4-6 times, I think) in 10 seconds. The "a" will go away, and you can program start and stop times or operate manually **Q: Can I use this to control a solar light for my chicken coop? If so, can you recommend a tutorial or specific parts I can buy?** A: yes it works great for that, I used a solar panel from harbor freight on an old dolly with a used battery (made the entire unit mobile and a quick disconnect to the lights), I wired the solar panel to charge the battery then run wires from the battery to the timer which has been flawlessly working, I kept it all a 12 volt system, I bought 12 volt led lights and wired them to the other side of the timer, I had trouble setting the timer, but you can you tube it and its all there, this has kept my egg production up for sure and it cuts off long enough to give them a good nights sleep **Q: What functions does the manual mode provide. can i push manual and have it close the switch for x minutes like my irrigation controller?** A: Manual mode just lets you operate the switch in on or off mode untill you change the setting back to auto mode where the timer schedule takes over. **Q: Will this single timer open and close a chicken coop door? I can only get the linear actuator to move in one direction. The a** A: This is a timer that allows voltage to pass through. You need a control system like a plc to open and close a door.
