ALZO Video Light Metal Shoe Mount for LED Lights

The shoe mount looked like just what I needed for my LED light. It is made well. The only problem I found, is that on some cold shoe adapters, this mount can not be tighten down enough, by hand, to stay secured to the mount. After a little while of use, it will loosen, causing my light to fall off. If there was a way to make sure the unit would stay tight, I would have given it 5 stars.

Although this item is advertised as a replacement arm/shoe for the popular Neewer Pro CN 160 LED video light (ASIN B004TJ6JH6) and is even pictured attached to one, it does NOT fit mine correctly. The problem is that you do not receive the entire assembly that bolts to the body of the light with four small screws, but rather the metal foot with arm which has a single hole drilled through it designed to slip into the receiver bracket with two sides. My Neewer light has the "receiver" for that arm as part of the original plastic shoe, not connected to the body of the light as shown in the ad for this product. Therefore it is reversed as far as being able to attach this arm to the light. That being said, the original plastic arm and shoe assembly that is shown in the current ad for the light itself is not the same as what I received on mine. If it was, then this replacement arm/shoe would work just fine. Perhaps Neewer has changed their design. I'll have to use a metal thumb screw to attach it and put a rubber washer between the joint in order to be able to tighten it enough to remain stable. That causes the light to be just slightly off-center (only about 1/4 inch or so) and it looks a bit cheesy. I guess I will keep it because at least the metal shoe that fits into the camera's shoe mount is MUCH better than the original plastic one that came on the light.

This isn't the type of thing that "sends a chill up my leg", but this thing is extremely well built! Works perfectly, and is the ONLY attachment I recommend for on the go economy lighting similar to the Opteka VL-126 LED. My experience is this; purchased two Opteka lights (highly recommend too) and one of these mounts. I installed this mount on one light and set-up my 2 cameras with lights on the cameras. There is a noticeable "wobble" derived from the cheap plastic mount that comes standard with economy lights (alzo, opteka, cowboy). As for the Alzo mount, not a hint of movement! Needless to say, second mount is on order.. Great articulation. Rock solid. For the money, you'll write the next recommendation. Get ya one! Cheers.

This is not compatible with the Neewer 160 LED light. The picture on this shows the bracket coming off the light being 2 wide, and this bracket is 1 wide and should slip right into the gap (think female anatomy on the light and this adapter being male). Problem is the actual bracket on the light is 1 wide, so this bracket sits on there off center and cannot be tightened for tilting. If you have the Neewer 160 light, do not buy!

I purchased a couple of ALZO LED lights a few months ago and was always disappointed with the shoe mechanism. So when I found these replacements, I had to give them a try. These should have been on the lights to start with. The shoe connector is metal and the light feels much more secure now. I just wish they were a little less money. But the money is still well spent. If you have a light that this fits on, then you should get it upgraded, you won't be sorry.
