This is a great specialty ride! It cuts well, and the huge bell is awesome! It offers a sound that few other rides offer. It's not for everyone, so check out reviews on you-tube before buying. It's made for loud rock music, as in Heavy Metal. If you like what you hear, give it a try. This cymbal will be a good weapon for war in your sound arsenal! And I'm not so sure how much longer they will make this baby. It's like that with many specialty cymbals. Paiste, you have done it again! Now you should make a companion with a bell two or more times larger in a 22" diameter! After fine tuning the design, we'll call it the Paiste Monster Ride! Also, high hats in 16" with good sized bells and the heft of the Giga Bell ride. Monster Hats! That's for next year...right?I purchased this cymbal on Amazon through Mugan Music Group. I was looking for a ride cymbal with a big bell, but didn't want to haul around a 24 inch cymbal (which would have entailed buying a bigger cymbal bag). I always seem to have trouble keeping my stick on the bell of ride cymbals with smaller bells. Maybe it's me? Either way, this is a great ride cymbal - killer bell sounds - the regular ride sound is very pingy and piercing, and the color coating look like it is durable. However, if you want a beefy ride sound, you might want to use this as an auxiliary ride.

Do you like a ride with a nice bell ping?? THIS is IT!!! Very well defined bell ping, with a HUGE bell that you cannot miss!!!I really like that this ride is 18", so it's smaller than other rides with big bells. it saves space in the kit and easier to carry around.This is the best ride I ever had!!

I bought my Paiste 18 Inch 2002 Giga Bell Ride Cymbal because I wanted the Ultimate Bell ping, pang, etc. It absolutely fulfills that, cutting through the mix. However, it is otherwise not the most versatile ride you'll find out there. There are definitely many other ride cymbals available that have a well defined bell but also have characteristics useful in many styles, which this cymbal is not. It's not a subtle instrument, so don't think you'll enjoy it to swing! Of course, this is just my humble opinion so if you can try before you buy...
