Wilton Burgundy Gel Icing Colour, 28.3 g

This was okay , I started with chocolate icing added this colour gel which went very dark chocolate brown , it was almost there but still needed to add a little 100% Cocoa powder to get the black . Will but it again however. The name on the pot will cause offence needs to be changed to Noir or something .

I use these gels every time I want to add colour to the cake sponge or icing. I needed a new set as my old pack was half empty and way out of date. Was surprised to see the mixed best before dates compared to the box it came in. It's not a biggie but for someone like me, it's pretty annoying. Gels are great tho, you need to add a small amount with a cocktail stick, just add a bit more until desired colour. Change cocktail sticks tho, don't contaminate the gel otherwise you might ruin the rest in tub. Anyway just please sort the best before dates out! They need to all be the same with the correct date on box. Thanks

I recently ordered two gel colours for a cake I was making for the Coronation one was royal blue and one was red. They arrived in good time so I put them away ready for the day I made the cake. Got them out and one was blue and one was burgundy, I was not impressed. Yes I should of checked when they came but you expect to get what you ordered.The blue was great and the red would of been if that’s what I’d got so that is why it got a 3 star rating, for the mistake

I have tried so many different colourings and keep coming back to the Wilton Gels. They work perfectly in homemade playdough, icing for cakes, fondant, or anything you need to colour!You use a tiny dot and you get the most vibrant colour without effecting the taste. I use the tip of a toothpick as you really only need a little for some beautiful colours.The selection in this pack give you plenty of flexibility to mix and make a wide range of colours and shades.Great for mums, teachers, bakers or professionals!

Purchased this set as had years ago and lasted for ages and in my experience gel colour gives best colour than thin liquid colours. Easy to use, nice texture which can be applied with tip of cocktail stick or skewer. Please remember when mixing colours/icing/frosting to do enough for the whole project as like paint it is virtually impossible to get same colour in two different batches. Also that colour will be slightly different when dried. Lent these to my sister for her to use with granddaughter and she was so impressed bought a set of her own. Not expensive when consider how many colours and how large the pots are compared with liquid colours available in supermarket which don't give true colours. Also can mix endless colours with selection as long as use separate skewer or cocktail stick into each pot rather than cross transfer colours.

So pleased with this product can’t wait to try out other colours. I’ve found it so hard to find food colourings that are vibrant and don’t alter taste & texture, this product ticked all those boxes and a little on a cocktail stick was all that was needed!
