Decadent. Indulgent. Seems to violate some law of physics.
I had a pair of SE-535's for many years and losing them was a sad note on an otherwise wonderful trip. They were the best earphones I ever had, and I could not bring myself to replace them at the time. Happily, circumstances changed, and I finally broke down and got a pair of the 846's.First, noise isolation: I ride a motorcycle. These are almost TOO isolating, and I may need to find some tips that allow some sound in. But being able to hear the opening notes of "Skateaway" at 50mph? Incredible.Sound quality: The richness of the sound, and the seemingly bottomless deep notes, blending with the faithful reproduction of voice, strings - everything I could throw at them - the experience of the sound in a public setting almost feels a little "naughty" - like everyone else is just sitting in traffic, and I'm at the mixing console of a recording studio, picking up sounds like a singer taking a breath before breaking into a chorus. That's the "violation of physics" - my body is in a noisy intersection, but my eardrums are in an intimate studio hearing musicians. All from a couple things smaller than my fingertips. How??Fit: Several people mentioned that the standard (braided cord with 3.5mm jack) cords are hard to get "seated" around the ear. I tried them briefly and can't disagree. The bluetooth adapter has more flexible cords and I found I could make them sit so perfectly around my ear that I forgot I was wearing them. There's no avoiding the elephant in the room: The price. Outside of exotic gear designed for A-list performers on stage, these are about the most expensive IEM's around. If you can afford them, just buy them. Yes, they are worth it. If it's a stretch, see if there are any repacks or "used/like new" available.

Received a defective product couldn’t get a replacement.
The sound on the earphones is amazing sadly I had to return it because the ones that I received were defective and looked like the actual drivers had some tiny dents/scratches on it. I couldn’t get them replaced so I could try them out again.

My forever one's.
Probably my first Amazon review. I have to speak out on these after having had them on only 2 hours tonight.I am new to good quality headphones. After trying the wireless junk out there, just 2 years ago I purchased the Audio-technica M50x and then the Audio technica MSR7 and then I finally went IEM with the audio technica ATH-CKR100iS.After realizing IEM's is the way to go I went up market to the $400 Audio-technica E70. The E70 was better than anything I had heard before. I used the E70 with the Earstudio ES100 MK2.I was aware of the SE846 and thought no way I would spend that much no matter how good the reviews were. A funny thing though, I could not get them out of my head and I kept wondering, "what if".Well I finally took a bite and it came today.I went straight for the BT2 wireless module to see if I would still be needing a DAC like the ES100.No. I do not need a DAC. These headphones are incredible. These headphones with the BT2 module far exceed the E70's with the ES100.Is it worth paying $500 extra over what I had?My previous was $400 (E70) plus $100 (ES100). ($500)My current is SE846 with BT2 ($1000).I hear more.It sounds much better.I hear stuff I did not hear before. That makes it worth it to me.UPDATE on 2021-01-21As it turns out I will be using the Qudelix 5K versus the BT2 module. The BT2 module is too limited it just pairs and plays.

Pretty good, not worth 1k tho.
First I’ll say that I purchased these because I wanted to listen to one of my favorite artist album with these. (FKA Twigs, MAGDALENE) and the sound quality of these is amazing. I like the white filters the best. I just wish these things would play textures more aggressively. I also heard things I wasn’t able to hear before while using regular earphones. I think all three of these filters do really well with live performance tracks. The blue filters are very very neutral and great for making music. The black filters do really good on the low end, but of course you have to sacrifice the higher end frequencies, but you’ll never have to sacrifice clarity with these. I was skating and I couldn’t even hear my skateboard, or the noisy cars. Truly noise canceling. But you have to make sure that you get a good deal with earbuds you choose. The only thing I find really amazing about these is the absolute noise cancelation. If you can’t afford these, they aren’t worth it, get something else. I think the true price of these earphones is at most 600$ not 1000. I think these are grossly overpriced. why not provide an extra cord for everything? An extra wireless adaptor, an extra regular cord? And other new filters? It’s been, what? 7 years (correct next if I’m wrong) why are these still 1000 dollars? Great sound, don’t get me wrong, however these are worth 500-600 dollars not 1k.

Sound motitoring tool. Not earphones.
$1000 seems bit too much for pair of earphones. However, this isnt a pair of earphones. These are sound monitoring equipment you use to disect and hear / produce music as intended. If you are looking for earphones, there are many many more better options out there with much better prices for the quality. You can notice smallest details in the music or sounds source you are listening to. Breaths, claps, fingers moving on strings. Vibrant all around.Bt2 cable is a great addition. Its convenient and 8 hours battery life isnt a joke. It really is 8 hours. However, for best quality of sound, swap to wired and you will immediately feel the difference in sound quality specially when it is hooked up to ext dac.

Above what most people will need.
Honestly when listening to high quality audio files you will notice a difference between these and beats or Bose. These really are awesome. The problem is that 90% of the music I listen to is streamed or saved at a lower bitrate than what's needed to really notice a difference here. These would be ideal for someone in a studio or if you only had FLAC files. (I tested them with Marcus Miller silver rain on FLAC and it sounds incredible). For most music and most people the Bose QC earbuds would suffice and are a quarter the price. The package is incredibly well put together though with lots of options to increase comfort (they are super comfy) and protect them in a nice solid case.

Exquisite
Quite simply, these have the most exquisite audio I've ever heard in a pair of ear buds. If you're in the market for these, I don't think I need to speak to proper bitrate that will stretch these, nor do I need to mention anything about pricing. These are obviously in a different league; a 4-driver system with a low pass filter, I'm honestly amazed at how much tech they've fit into this tiny package. The buds themselves interchange between the included cables, and come in the box with the actual cable adapter attached. Switching things to Bluetooth was very simple. I have always been skeptical of Bluetooth quality; you need the right mix of audio bitrate and distance and quality headphone or buds to get it right. These definitely get it right. BT 5.0 has a good throughput, and at 9 ohms with a high sensitivity, these get way louder than you'd ever need and have very little drop off at the top end (at least nothing that was noticeable without damaging my ears).Quite honestly, I can't see why A-level bands wouldn't use these on set; they are simply superior in every way to any other ear bud I've ever tried. From the fit of the ear sleeves (and if you've never used sleeves that you compress to fill your ear you are really missing out) to the quality of the lows (listen to Intro by Yosi Horikawa for a good example of the dizzying depths of bass these can plummet), I've never had a better pair of earphones ever.If I had any tiny complaints, it would only revolve around the cabling; I think they tried to make the bluetooth cables that run behind your ear formable, but they are just stiff and a bit uncomfortable. I do wish they were formable (like a twist tie you might get at your local bakery), but it's a sacrifice I'll put up with while I wear them in.

Amazing sound!
To set the (sound) stage, I've been doing audio-visual work for about two decades, and have owned several pairs of Shure IEMs / in-ear monitors (earphones), including the SE575's. I generally have a pair of SE112's around for random use as I'm not worries about damaging them, and I have a pair of SE215's with the older BT1 Bluetooth cable. This pair of SE846's knocked my socks off. The first step was to listen to my usual reference songs as I know well what they sound like with other listening devices. The SE846's gave me a new appreciation for the details in these songs -- details which I hadn't ever heard clearly before. The sound is well-rounded, and the volume available from the BT2 was excellent. This is the first time I've been pleased with the volume levels available from a pair of wireless earphones, whether Shure or another brand.Granted, what I'm saying here is to-be-expected for spending this kind of money on earphones... but if it is your business to know sound, or you just really like listening to music the way it was intended, this is a great option that I would totally recommend.
