Cute
The Dugout was cute and Milly and Carson had awesome chemistry. I loved getting to know more of the Brentwood baseball boys, too!

These two are goals
Oh my gosh. Milley is the cutest character ever and I cannot tell you how much I love her. From her no nonsense baseball talk to her awkwardness, she is the perfect girl for Carson.I’m loving how these stories interconnect and give us glimpses of other players from other books. Carson was always so happy and goofy in the beginning of the book but when his heart heartened, he was broken and angry. The character development in this story was phenomenal. Both male and female lead grew through love and pain. The author has a way of writing that has you laughing and crying but unable to stop reading. She makes bing worthy books.

Carson's Epic Story
When I saw that this was ready for pre-order, I jumped right on it. I could not wait to read this one. The Locker Room was a great book. I loved Knox in that book. He was the sweetest. But, Carson was by far my most favorite character in that book and I so hoped he'd get his own book because I knew his story would be epic. And it was.Carson is a changed man after an accident messed up his plans but Milly came in to fix the problem and to fix him. This book was so good although I pretty much figured early on what was going to happen.I loved Milly in this book. I found her to be a strong woman with a backbone. So many times, writers make the woman weak and I'm so glad Meghan didn't do that. I can't stand weak women in a book. And her friends Shane and Jerry were absolutely great. I laughed at their antics. I think I'd have had to kill them. The best part about her though was the love of her brother, Cory. He was so wonderful. He cared so much for Milly and was there for her when she just needed someone to talk to. I would love to see him get a book of his own, even if it's not in this series. Maybe with Dottie from the first book. I thought she would be good for Carson but now I know she'd be good for Cory.Carson was the sweetest. And my heart just broke for him and what he went through. But the part with Milly's parents after they got back together, just destroyed me even though it was just mentioned. I teared up and it takes a lot to make me tear up or cry. I loved that so much. I loved Carson's friends in this book. Not only did we get to have Knox back in this one but we got more of a look into some of the other guys in the loft. The were so darn funny. I'm sure hoping we get Jason and Gunner book those two need to tell their stories for sure and I wouldn't mind one with Romeo either. The cookie incident has to be my all time favorite thing to have happened in a book. I laughed so hard at that and will sure never forget it.The problems I had with this book which were minor were 1 I didn't understand why Milly didn't go with Carson. He clearly needed her but she didn't go. I didn't understand that part. And 2 the time lapse slightly irritated me although it made more sense in this one that it did in The Locker Room. It just seems like a pattern for this series and I expected it from the very beginning but was hoping that this book wouldn't have that and would be different than The Locker Room. Like I said it didn't take away from the book it just made me wonder.I'm definitely glad I preordered this and got to read it. I will preorder any other books in this series for sure. Meghan Quinn never lets you down.

Good
Do not read this in public! Crying ugly doesn't work in public. Carson broke my heart. Thank goodness for Knox to help him see that Milly was for him.

Beautiful
Omg this book was so so so good! I'm seriously loving this author. This book has it all, funny, socially awkward girl, & a guy who can't help but fall in love with her. Thought it was gonna be more on a guy on a revenge path but got something sweeter. It'll have you laughing, it'll break your heart, & all to put you back together. A little jealous of how much her brothers love her but in a good way. Seriously though this book was the best & would definitely recommend. On to the next!

4 Blissfully Lost Stars
The Dugout is a full length contemporary sports romance novel by Meghan Quinn.I’m so happy this book was step up from Knox and Emory’s story. The eventual fallout between our two MCs was done better this time around, IMO. Although it still felt somewhat forced and illogical. Considering Carson had been preaching his love to the heavens, marveling to Milly and all who would listen that their bond was the stuff of dreams. Unbreakable, until he broke it.Carson Stone was the goofball, the clown in the previous book from the Brentwood U universe. Seeing him brought down from terrible circumstances was painful. Discovering the hard times he has already faced, and thrived in? Allowed him to burrow into my heart. His mother passed away when he was fairly young, and his father has worked two jobs since to help Carson reach his baseball dreams. His father’s work ethic doesn’t allow him to visit the games he’s supporting his son through. And although Carson expresses his great appreciation for all of his sacrifices, being the only player without family in the stands still has come to weigh on him.Milly Potter is a baseball aficionado. She breathes it. She loves it. She lives it. She’s the power behind her brothers’ proficiency. So when their paths finally cross, she’s the one person capable of pulling Carson out of his slump after his Achilles’ tendon injury. She’s shy, unique, and a cute combination of Tom-boy and girly. Her childhood growing up as the only girl with three brothers hasn’t really bred an easy relationship with other women her age.I’m so thankful when Carson steps into her life and loves her for who she is. It’s a healthy dose of ‘there’s someone out there for everyone’.I absolutely adored all of the secondary characters. Be it, Jerry and Shane, Milly’s best friends and utmost support system. They are so hilarious. Or Jason who is just as entertaining and life-affirming.

Sentimental
What is it with Meghan Quinn and painful breakups just to go back together after months or years????Please, I hate it, it is too much painful and unnecessary. So I gave four stars because the development was really good until the breakup. The past book, from Knox it was worse ( the breakup part) so because I gave 3 stars to it I am giving 4 to Carson's because it was less painful. Be prepared. But Meghan, real advice here, these books are too emotional!! They make me cry, like really, and that is not a compliment. I have anxiety issues and your books are a total trigger and I hate it because your couples and the developments are soooo good. I can't have a mental breakdown every book I read, it really is exhausting. Please make it slight, less painful.

10/10
So I freaking adored this book. Would Defoos recommend. It was as fantastic a book as I’ve come to expect from Meghan Quinn. But every once in a while I zone out the fact that it’s fiction and get obsessed with a minor detail and how I would personally reactCase in point. Carson. Like I loved him and Millie together. And obvs I get this is a HAE. But iRl his behaviour is more than a little problematic. The guy clearly can’t deal with his grief. He reaction to his own pain is to lash out and shut everyone in his life out, hurting them in the process. So obvs him and Millie end up together but I don’t think I could do it. I don’t think I’d be able to trust him again because his grief responses, which understandable are just devastating for those who care about him. Like what if they have kids ect. Would he just leave? And this is all wayyyyyyyyyy to hypothetical but it’s what’s currently keeping me up at night 😂

Amazing!!
This book is...WOW!!I don’t even know how to fully put into words how this books makes me feel. I have had laugh out loud moments reading it with Milly and Carson’s personalities and their friends antics but I have also had full blown tears and hard hitting emotions that took my breath away. This is a fantastic read and will swallow you up and keep a hold of you and honestly, I don’t think you want it to let you go!I’d love to read more from the characters that we meet in this book in the future!A MUST READ!!! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

Megan Quinn strikes again!!!
Beautifully put together book. If you want a book that will make you full on belly laugh and awwwwww over cute moments Carson and Milly have together you have found the perfect book. It’s about a baseball player trying to get his college career back on track and a girl who is one of the guys and is a master in all things baseball. He sees her beauty through all her quirks and ugly fisherman hats and she sees his heart and kindness- it’s a fated match. The romance and the ridiculously hilarious moments with their friends and family is what made it so hard for me to put this book down!!What else can I say except it’s a fantastic read I would highly recommend and for all those who have read the previous books they will know what I mean when I say the locker room strikes myth again!!!!

3.5*
I thought this story was pretty good, with some nice central and peripheral characters. It was quite heavily a baseball story and I know pretty much nothing about baseball so some terms, slang and general phrases went over my head. The two main characters were Carson and Milly and they were both fairly likeable people, but for me I didn't find the chemistry between the two sustained throughout the book, but on the whole it was a entertaining read.
