A must see for families with children. Absolutely delightful view of childhood and advanced age meeting in a tangible, marvelous adventure. Katherine Hepburn at her best. I'm 67 and first saw this in the mid-1980's on cable... still love it. It was a favorite of my son and his friends in 3rd grade.

I first saw this in the late 1970's and have searched for it ever since. My kids and I really loved it. After finally tracking it down, I must admit much of it is dated, but the message still comes through. Live your dreams. You'll be surprised what you find..and what you learn.

2 kids and kate in her autumn years flying a balloon with dog etc ...fun but slow moving, sweet moments though........

This is essentially a children's movie, but it will delight anyone at any age. The only adult on screen is Katharine Hepburn in a fantastic performance at the end of a stellar career. The story is an engaging one in which a 8-year-old boy and his friend attempt to fly a hot air balloon that had belonged to his granfather, in honour of his birthday. I highly recommend this little-known film for all viewers.

good family movie

I saw this movie on TV years ago and video taped it, but loaned the tape to someone and lost it. I was soooo happy to find it again. It shows childhood in a more pleasant time, plus wonderful acting and terrific scenery and a fantastic ending!!! It is a perfect movie for all generations!!!I was so happy to find it on Amazon. Thank you!!Sally

Trivia, this is Kate "Katherine" Hepburn's favorite role from her whole career!Required watch for magicians, booksellers and the young in heart and the dreamers. Just a beautiful artifact and achievement, like The Holy Mountain.More insights if you research the screenwriter, Eugene Poinc - one of my teachers and a great magician and artist who loved chocolate chip cookies and the odd, RIP.

Good movie and glad I did order Dvd as I haven't watch it since I were little boy in early 90s!. Katherine hepburn are a great actress. This film are about to goes up to Hot air balloon to wishing they grandfather happy birthday up at sky... Help by two little boys and a dog too.

E' spettacolare, esilarante, tutti i bambini dovrebbero vederlo:La storia di due fratelli che vogliono fare un regalo per il compleanno del nonno, appassionato di palloni volanti. Per costruirlo vanno a cercare materiale presso un'anziana e strana robivecchi (Katharine Hepburn)la quali li scopre, prima si arrabbia e poi decide di aiutarli. Inizia la costruzione alla quale partecipa anche il cagnolino che combinando guai fa partire il pallone prima del tempo lasciando a terra la signora. Questa, disperata, li insegue in macchina fino a quando il pallone resta impigliato, allora anche lei si aggrappa al cesto e alla fine riesce a salire. Dopo aver a lungo volato atterrano a Hollywood proprio durante un concerto sinfonico. Lo consiglio a tutti per un'ora di puro divertimento !!!!

Favoloso! Due bimbi vogliono costruire un pallone e cercano pezzi fra i robivecchi dove inconcontrano una originale signora anziana ( una straordinaria, brillante ultrasettantenne Katharine Hepburn, brava come non mai )che decide di partecipare all'impresa, il cane nell'intento di partecipare combina guai a non finire. Il pallone si alza. nel cestello i bambini e il cane prendono il volo. La signora li segue in auto, finchè li raggiunger, riesce a salire e poi tutti su nel firmamento. Sorvolano, ponti, fiumi e città finchè forse a corto di ossigeno, atterrano in un teatro all'aperto verso la fine di un comcerto, fra gli applausi generali.Tutti i bambini dovrebbero riceverlo a Natale per la loro gioia e quella degli adulti. Peccato che si trovi solo l'edizione in lingua originale e senza sottotitoli, ma è sufficente guardare le immagini per capire.
