Transfer: The Retrieval Duet, Book 2

I WAS MESMERIZED UNTIL THE VERY LAST PAGE!!!
"What do you need, Clare?""You.""Then get over here and take it."Holy cow, what a mind-blowing thrill this series has been! I can’t remember the last time I read two books so quickly and so obsessively, glued onto the pages like nothing else in the world mattered, but when a story is this gripping and the writing is this good, nothing could ever peel me away from it. Now, being a much-coveted sequel to a story that had already set a remarkable tone to the series as a whole, I honestly never thought this book could live up to my own high expectations of it, yet it somehow not only met them—it hit them out of the ballpark. This series remains composed of two very distinctive romances, illustrative of two very different couples and the emotional and sexual dynamics within them. But the more we delve into their respective stories, the more we uncover all the ways they would forever be tied to one another by an unexpected twist of fate that might have brought them into each other’s lives unwillingly, but then given a common purpose to fight for. A tale of hope, survival and unconditional, motherly love—this is first and foremost Clare’s story, but it also blends seamlessly into Roman and Elisabeth’s storyline, turning it into a heartbreaking, exhilarating page-turner with a tender romance at the core of it. An absolute joy to read."I didn’t live in a world where I was allowed to focus on anything but keeping myself alive and my daughter safe."Clare Noir has spent the last seven years of her young life trapped in a living nightmare. Stuck in a violent marriage that has slowly bled her of all desire to live, Clare sacrifices her body and soul daily in order to keep her baby daughter safe from her husband’s vicious hands. But when a small ray of hope suddenly appears before her in the form of two comforting, blue eyes that make her feel safe for the very first time in her life, she allows herself a connection she knows could cost them both."When you’re completely alone in life, surrounded by darkness on all sides, it doesn’t take much more than a warm smile and simple conversation to convince yourself that maybe there was more."Heath Light is a man on a mission—he is determined to put his life and career on the line to save a young woman from her cruel fate, and nothing could stop him from bringing her and her daughter Tessa to safety. The more time he spends with Clare, however—protecting her, offering her all that her broken heart and body need to heal, and creating small pockets of true happiness for them both—the more their feelings for one another spiral out of control, sweet but blistering passion consuming them both.“You sore yet?” he asked, easing back inside me and then draping my legs over his shoulders.I shook my head.“That’s about to change.”In the arms of a kind man with gentle hands, Clare learns what love is supposed to feel like, despite what her life has taught her. But as danger lurks in the shadows, reminding them daily they’d never breathe easily whilst waiting for it to strike, Clare must also learn to become strong enough to save herself, even when the man she loves is willing to die accomplishing that task."Somewhere along the line, being with them stopped being about an investigation and became everything to do with showing a little girl and her mother that there was a world that didn’t involve beatings and tears."With so many clever plot twists that have our minds spinning in a flurry of emotions and two stunning romances at its very essence, the author never stopped adding to the intense emotional palette of this story, making the reader genuinely invested in the characters and their respective second chances at finding happiness. And by giving us two strong, fearless heroines who love fiercely and selflessly, and two hot but bossy, alpha males who would do anything for the women they love—the perfect formula for some skin-tingling romance in my eyes—Ms Martinez made sure that we were utterly mesmerized until the very last page. I cannot recommend this duet highly enough.“I’ve got you… I swear on my life I’ve got you.”

Clare and Heath
This was a really great book and it was a wonderful conclusion to this series. Clare Noir and her daughter Tessa were saved at the end of Retrieval by DEA Agent Heath Light and Roman Leblanc. Clare has been trapped in a horrible marriage to a monster that abused her horribly daily. She didn't want to have a child with him but he forced her into IVF and then Tessa came along. Clare has done everything she could to protect Tessa from Walter. In Retrieval, Roman and Elisabeth find out that Tessa might be her child.Clare was barely surviving when she met Walter Noir, she was working at a diner and living in a trailer. She was close to being homeless and she thought Walter was a wonderful man that was going to take care of her. Instead he pretended to be wonderful and ended up being a monster. He deals with illegal and terrible things and treats his wife and child horribly. She was just ready to give up and die but she will do anything to protect Tessa. When she's saved from that horrible situation, she just doesn't know what to do. She's just waiting for Walter to come for her and Tessa again. Clare and Elisabeth become really tight and even though Tessa is really Elisabeth's child, she would never take her away from her mother. Elisabeth and Roman love Tessa wholeheartedly. Also, she's attracted to Heath but Walter has made her doubt men.Heath was pretending to be Luke and working at Clare's gym to try to get some information. But he fell for Clare and loves her daughter Tessa. At first he was just on the case but he can't get Clare out of his head and protecting her. He will do anything to keep her and Tessa safe. He's a wonderful man that will fight for the ones he loves.Definitely worth reading.

Perfect conclusion to this epic story!!
Holy wowza!! Transfer was just as amazeballs and Retrieval was, if not more!! So much happened in Retrieval that I wasn't sure how Aly was going to bring this storyline to conclusion but she did, in a big way!!All of the questions left unanswered in Retrieval are tied up in Transfer. So much information had been brought to light in that book, but there were still so many things that needed to play out and I was trying so hard to read slowly so that I didn't miss anything but at the same time rushing through the pages because I had to know!! Was Clare finally going to get away from Walter? How was she going to take the news that Luke was really Heath Light, super alpha male DEA agent? What would the DNA reveal about who Tessa's biological parents were?Since I mentioned Heath up above, lets take a minute to talk about him. I thought that Roman was super alpha in Retrieval. A stubborn, headstrong man who steamrolled over those whose opinion didn't match his, but at the same time gentle, loving and obsessed with Elisabeth. Well Heath Light? Yeah, he's like 10 times more super alpha, headstrong and stubborn than Roman! Poor Clare! All I kept thinking was I hope she holds on tight because she's in for the ride of her life with that guy! But as dominating has Heath was, he was the most patient, tolerant, saint like man I've seen in a book in a very long time. He always knew exactly what Clare needed and stopped the world to give it to her.Tessa, sweet little Tessa!! She stole my heart all over again! She's seen and heard way too much in her tiny little life and Heath did everything he could to show her that what she had experienced wasn't the norm and that she would never have to see anything like that again. It is always heartwarming to see these huge, intimidating men brought to their knees by the innocence and love of a child.Aly stuffed this book chock full of emotion from all four of the characters. While this was Heath and Clare's story, Roman and Elisabeth are immersed right into the middle of the whole thing, because Walter Noir changed all of their lives irrevocably. Blood doesn't always make you family and that is absolutely the case in this story. Family is who you make it, and these four people forge one of the closest family units there could be.I loved, loved, loved the conclusion of this story!! Perfection, Aly!!

A Must Read
This is the second book by Aly Martinez that I have read and once again I am not disappointed. Transfer continues the story of Roman and Elisabeth but also brings in Clare and Heath's story. I love that the plot has twists and turns and that the women are strong. The men are understanding and know how to deal with their women while allowing them to stand on their own. I won't say more as it would give the story away but know if you like HEA, suspense and humour then this is the book for you. You won't regret purchasing this but do read Retrieval first. I can't wait to read more of her books.

Cracking Conclusion for a Delightful Duet
Amazing conclusion to a brilliant duet!I was so looking forward to continuing the character's stories within this book after devouring the first novel. Without giving too much away, the continuation of Claire's story was executed brilliantly by the amazing Martinez.Aly Martinez produces such well-rounded character's and places them in real-life situations that anyone could relate to, that it's impossible to not feel deeply involved with the storyline and the easy story-telling only makes it that much easier to read the book in one sitting without once feeling bored.Overall, this was a brilliant conclusion to an incredibly emotive story, handled with great care and skill by the author. Personally, this was my favourite of the two books though that is not to take away from the brilliance of the first.I would recommend Transfer to any avid romance readers or anyone who simply enjoys a great story, told exceptionally well. 5*

Thrilling ending!
“Oh my God,” she choked out, tears slipping from her eyes. I slid it on her wrist. “You’re with me now, Clare. I’ll make damn sure you don’t ever need another wish again. But, if you do, it’ll always be 11: 11.”What a nail biting ending this was!. It started off with Retrieval bk 1 then continued with Transfer bk2 like the first book I had my heart in my throat the entire time. This story had it all love, drama, friendship and passion. Four people Roman, Elizabeth, Heath and Clare all working together to protect an innocent child Tessa from an evil man, Walter. And what a poor excuse for a human being he was! I loved the friendships between the characters and their love and protectiveness over Tessa. Aly Martinez has truly written an amazing series with gritty and strong characters with an intense storyline! And the love/protectiveness that Roman and Heath had for their women Elizabeth and Clare was totally swoon worthy! The ending was amazing just tied up everything perfectly! A brilliant book!
