A Game-Changer for Pool Maintenance – Affordable and Effective!
I recently purchased the Pool Mate 7-Pounds Premium Pool Stabilizer and Conditioner to help maintain my 15,000-gallon backyard pool, and I’m thrilled with the results. As someone who’s always looking for cost-effective solutions to keep my pool crystal clear, this product has exceeded my expectations, and Amazon’s price was unbeatable compared to local pool supply stores. Why I Chose This Product I was struggling with rapid chlorine loss due to intense sunlight in my area, which was driving up my maintenance costs. After testing my pool water and finding the cyanuric acid (CYA) level was below 30 ppm, I knew I needed a reliable stabilizer to protect my chlorine. The Pool Mate 7-pound bucket caught my attention due to its concentrated formula, solid reviews, and the fact that it’s made in the USA, which gave me confidence in its quality.Ease of Use The instructions on the packaging are straightforward. I tested my pool water using a reliable test kit (as recommended) and calculated that I needed about 18 ounces to raise my CYA level by 30 ppm for my pool size. I added the granular stabilizer slowly through the skimmer while the pump was running, and it dissolved completely within 24 hours, as promised. For those new to pool maintenance, I’d suggest pre-dissolving the granules in a bucket of warm water to speed things up, but I had no issues with clumping or residue using the skimmer method.Performance The results were impressive. After adding the stabilizer and allowing the pool to circulate for a day, I retested the water, and my CYA level was right in the ideal 40-60 ppm range. Over the next two weeks, I noticed a significant reduction in chlorine loss, even during hot, sunny days. Previously, I was adding chlorine almost daily, but with this stabilizer, I’ve cut my chlorine consumption by at least 20-25%, just as the product claims. My water stays clear and sanitized, and I’ve saved both time and money on pool chemicals. Value for Money At $36.19 for 7 pounds, this product is a steal, especially since Amazon’s price was lower than what I found at local pool stores (where similar products were priced $5-10 higher for smaller quantities). The 7-pound size is perfect for my pool, with enough left over for future adjustments. The cost savings from reduced chlorine use alone make this a worthwhile investment. Pros Highly effective at stabilizing chlorine, reducing loss due to sunlight. Easy to apply with clear dosing instructions (6 oz per 5,000 gallons raises CYA by 10 ppm). Affordable price point, especially on Amazon, beating local competitors. Large bucket size offers great value for multiple applications. No residue or cloudiness when added properly. Cons Takes 24 hours to fully dissolve and stabilize, so plan ahead (not really a con, just something to note). A measuring scoop would’ve been a nice addition for precise dosing, but I used a kitchen scale without issue. Final Thoughts The Pool Mate 7-Pounds Premium Pool Stabilizer and Conditioner is a must-have for anyone with an outdoor pool exposed to sunlight. It’s effective, easy to use, and delivers on its promise to extend chlorine life, saving you money in the long run. Amazon’s competitive pricing made this an even better deal, and I’m confident this product will keep my pool in top shape all season. Highly recommend to pool owners looking for a reliable and budget-friendly stabilizer! Disclaimer: I purchased this product myself and was not incentivized to write this review. All opinions are my own based on my experience.

Follow directions!
This worked great for my pool but you must follow the directions. This is very slow dissolving so it must be added very slowly to the skimmer basket. This can also be predissolved in a bucket, but it will take a few days.

Only product that works
This is THE ONE, I have about 12000 gallons in my pool right now (I still need to fill it up to top) but 2 lbs 9 oz got my pool registering CYA. Omg I tried two other brands, even the liquid kind and it was always 0. I’m so happy because the chlorine holding better . Half gallon of chlorine use to get me 1-3ppm for one day (full sun pool). That same half gallon got my chlorine levels 5 and it’s 1pm. I used a women’s stocking and held it over the return jet. It dissolved within 15 minutes with my help of squeezing.

Very effective and great price
This stabilizer did exactly what it was supposed to do, and the price is excellent. My CYA level had dropped to zero after a bacteria bloom caused by several decomposing frogs in the skimmers while I was away on vacation for a week. This created ammonia and left the water very hazy. After thoroughly cleaning and sanitizing the pool with liquid chlorine, I added this stabilizer following the recommended dosage for my 27,000-gallon pool. I added it gradually — 1 pound at a time into each of my two skimmers, waiting for it to fully dissolve before adding the next pound. I used a full 7 lb bag to reach about 35 ppm. I added 4 pounds on day one and the remaining 3 pounds the next day. I tested daily, and it took about 3 days for the CYA to fully register as it dissolves slowly. A few days later, I added another 4 lb bag to bring the level up to nearly 60 ppm. Overall, I was able to reach the exact CYA level recommended in the instructions at roughly half the cost of many competing products. Great value and effective results.

Its Stabilizer, Works Great!
Does what it says on the label. I was having trouble keeping my chlorine level where it needed to be so I tested the stabilizer level. It was low, ordered this, dumped the right amount straight into the pool (90+ degree water.) It completely dissolved in 24 hours and now life is good. It was that simple. Good luck with your pool.

Does not dissolve easily at all
This product comes in granules and they are extremely hard to dissolve I've tried to dissolve them for a couple of days (yes, the filter is running!) now and I can still see them on the button of the pool. We can't use the pool since I don't think it's safe to swim in the undissolved acid. If your pool tests low for chlorine and high on salt this wont fix it you have to do a salt shock, this is more to keep the balance once you have your numbers right. At least that's how I think it works because my pool was testing at zero CYA then I added almost half the bag to get it to register on the tester but now the granules are still there. Someone said you can premix it in a bucket before putting in the pool and that is probably the way to go.
