Amazon EssentialsMen's Classic-Fit Cargo Short (Available in Big & Tall)

As I wrote in a review for a pair of Amazon Basics golf shorts, I'm fussy about shorts. They are always too long, too short, something ain't right. So I like to try them on, look at them, frown and ask my wife what she thinks. LOL. I have been realllly reluctant to buy clothes through Amazon. But these worked out fine. Fit was good (to size). No falling apart seams, etc. (yet) after one washing. (I see reviews that claim these don't hold up.) And, the fabric has a soft hand (after a few minutes of wearing).All that said, be aware of what you are buying. These are 100% cotton which means they can be warm when dry, cold when wet, and take a long time to dry. If you are looking for something that is cooler and dries faster (in case you get hit by a sudden summer rain, etc.) you might look at the recycled polyester golf shorts instead. But if "cargo shorts" are your go-to style, and you don't want the baggy look of pleats, give these a try!

These are really nice men’s cargo shorts. They are lightweight, fit well, and were economical. I got two pairs and am very pleased.

These fit in a true to size way. Comfortable material. Only wore for a couple of days and the threads for the button are almost all broken (no, they are not a tight fit-I have to use a belt to hold them up). Overall a pretty good buy. Buttons coming off is just a minor inconvenience.

Let’s start with the negatives: the waist line is a little smaller than standard sizing.That’s it.Positives: good weight, CONSISTENT IN SIZING. I bought five pairs. Every pair fits exactly the same. Pockets are good sizes, the fabric comfortable, and breathable. I’m visiting Tampa for Spring training and they feel great so far.

I love these shorts. For the price and quality of them it's a no brainer. These are very well constructed and sewn that I swear they were made by Wrangler. Perfect loose fit in the legs and nice knee length make these perfect for any activity or fashion statement.

These are good shorts for the money. Size was correct and the color didn't fade after washing.

Fits ok, could be longer in length but the waist too big for my slim son.

My job now allows us to wear shorts, so I was scrambling to find some cargo shorts ASAP. Amazon Basics’ price and good reviews intrigued me, so I bought one pair for a trial.It is a lightweight, 100% cotton material, so it breathes well and dries fairly quickly. I also like the metal zipper, which to me is better than plastic. I’m not sure if it’s YKK, but thus far it’s held up very well.It uses a sewn-on main button, but it’s not a big deal, since it can be easily replaced with a jeans-style metal rivet should it ever break.Others have negatively commented on the hard to reach, hard to use security buttons for the cargo and back pockets, but I don’t use them anyway, so for me it’s a non-issue. And besides, I’d much rather have buttons over hook-and-loop closures.About the only knocks I have are:1. It’s a little on the baggy side. I’d much rather have a slimmer fit.2. The 10” inseam is a bit long for me. With my 5’5” height, coupled with my short legs, the cuff ends up, by midshift, past my knees, which makes kneeling a problem. And because the leg openings end up past my knees, it makes me look even shorter. Almost Hobbit-like, LOL3. Back pockets are not deep enough to securely hold my wallet, so I’ve been storing it in one of the side pockets.If Amazon Basics made this in a 9” length, with a slimmer fit, and used a polyester/cotton blend of 60/40, it would be much more durable and fade resistant.Overall, despite some minor issues, I like these better than my Dickies in 11-inch length. Those I’ve had to have altered for a better fit. And the Dickies have a smaller zipper opening, which makes using the restroom a bit of a challenge.Although I no longer use the Amazon Basics cargo shorts for work, they still serve admirably around the house. No longer will I have to settle for whatever I can find (cheaply) at garage sales or thrift stores.

Good replacement for the Old Navy cargo shorts I’ve usually bought. Construction seems good, fits comfortably. Durability TBD, but I never buy anything too expensive as I expect they’ll get trashed while I’m doing outdoor work at my cabin anyway.
