Everdell: Pearlbrook Expansion

My son and I have thoroughly enjoyed this expansion to Everdell. I studied the various expansions (via youtube reviews etc.), decided on this one and am pleased. The idea of a frog going to the bottom of a pond to haul up pearls is cute. When I bought this a few months ago (~ March 2021) there was a lot of hype and I probably paid too much for it; since then I have seen used copies go for much less. That might mean that not everyone enjoys it or - like many - that people are just trying to cull their growing game collections! I say thumbs up on this one.

We just got this and have played the expansion with base game twice now. We like it. But just wish we had either an extra worker or an extra frog ambassador to use since there's so many spots. Or if all players started the game with one of each basic resource. Because that first season is a tough one depending on the cards you draw and what's in the meadow. You sometimes are retrieving and going to Spring very quickly. But that does make for a faster game.

Overall this addition has added a lot of fun and a new twist to our Everdell games. We are missing a few of the extra cards that the directions say should be in there (and some of the extra characters) - we only got otters, and not the platypus, or starling), and we are missing the open/closed signs, and the board overlay, the specific events for river cards, and the extra 3 point tokens. That being said, the extra board portion, the frog ambassador, and adornment cards make for a fun addition to an already addicting game.

Would rate 5 stars no matter the attributes! Very fun expansion to Everdell!!! The artwork is beautiful and really adds to the enjoyment of the game!

Great expansion to a great game. It adds a special worker (frog ambassador) so it doesn't take away from your regular workers. Definitely recommend.

Adds a whole new, wonderful level to Everdell

This edition is NOT the same as in Kickstarter and is missing MANY things that you could see in various unboxing videos. This edition does not include the following: glass pearls (they're plastic), extra Adornment, Special Event, and Forest cards, the scorepad, extra meeples (just the Otters), 3D Wonders, and no spot UV cover. The content is VERY POOR and is not worth the money (the most expensive part is actually the box). The box insert was designed to store all of the items mentioned above and most of the slots remain empty. What a rip off! Was considering buying all other Everdell releases / expansions but now will stay away: no matter how nice the gameplay, the feeling of being cheated will not let you enjoy the play.
