These original Atlantic albums are two of Mose's absolute must-haves. 1962's I Don't Worry About a Thing features sardonically soulful classics like It Didn't Turn Out That Way; Your Mind Is on Vacation , and the title track; Mose Alive , recorded at the Lighthouse in '65, shows off his live brilliance as he plays Seventh Son; Parchman Farm , and more.

he is alive and well
It has been my first contact with Mose and the experience has been excellent. This is a 2 records cd of very good jazz and blues. Two songs stand out in the cd, "smashed" and "I Love The Life I Live". I like it!

good to listen to
If you're not familiar with Mose Allison, this is a good place to start. The CD is actually two complete albums: a studio album (I Don't Worry About a Thing) and a live album (Mose Alive), recorded at the Lighthouse in Hermosa Beach. Both albums feature Mose's subdued vocals, wacky lyrics, and superb piano playing. The studio album has what is apparently Mose's most famous song, "Your Mind is on Vacation." Listening to the lyrics, you have to admire someone who writes a song poking fun at his own audience. The live album has some great piano solos and a truly memorable performance of the classic "Parchman Farm." I prefer this album to the recently released "Mose Chronicles," although both are very, very good.
