Westmark Robusto Meat Hammer - Small but gets the job done better then others.
We tried several larger ones from 100% stainless steel (advertised) to other top reviewed meat tenderizers / hammers. We tested a few - looking for the "purple squirrel"We were looking for a combination of effectiveness, dishwasher safe, good balance & weight, one piece or quality construction and features. The Westmark Robusto 9.5 inch is the one we have settled on and are very happy having put it though its paces.Small and large size "pyramid dimples" on each side of the hammer for tenderizing and we also use the side of the hammer for flattening meat due to its smooth side ( just one line down the middle from the mold when made - I would imagine).Though smaller then others, it gets the job done fast and efficiently, has good balance / weight (for its intended purpose) and we are using it as essentially a 3 sided hammer with small dimples, large dimples and a flat side, offers plenty of versatility and options. It is dishwasher save and easy to clean by hand if you prefer, stores easily due to its size and also has a hole at the top of the handle for hanging or attaching a lanyard if you want.As far as meat tenderizers / hammers go - this one ticks all the boxes for us.

Great little hammer!
This is very small, like one reviewer stated, "it's like a child's toy". See my thumb in pic. It covers over half of the hammer. I would return this except I just don't want to pay or bother with shipping. I will be looking for a better one.UPDATE: Ok, I used it on my steaks, and it worked great! I thought that the hammer face should be large or wide but it turns out that is not necessary. I was really impressed. I am satisfied.

Just like the one Mom used in the 80's...
Mom had one of these in the 80's and it was PERFECT. 40+ years later an hers is still in great shape, even with dishwasher cleaning. Its SOLID CAST Aluminum and will not deteriorate EVER. That's the difference from the others. People say it looks small, but they don't know that's all you need. A perfectly weighted mallet with deeply cut points gets into the meat. It does not have to be bigger because its heavy. Just try it to find out. I've used it. IT WORKS like a charm.I wanted one for myself, since every other one I bought in my adulthood was CRAP and fell apart!! The one I just threw away was metal but after a while the metal started to powder off to the touch and come off in my food. This is the only one you need FOREVER.The Germans know how to make a hammer to perfectly pound their Veal Schnitzel!

just what I wanted
Disclaimer; this is not one of those "I got it free/discounted" BS reviews. I paid list price (no reimbursement nonsense, either.)I hesitated to get this tenderizer, because it seemed so small. In hindsight, how often do I tenderize a humongous slab of meat? Almost never. This guy does the job just fine and cleans nicely, too. The compact size doesn't add too much bulk to my overstuffed kitchen drawer, which is nice. I use both sides of the tenderizer with some frequency, and it has not suffered flaking, stains, or any other aesthetic wear and tear. We have a weiner!
