WONDERFUL book. A game-changer for how I LIVE with chronic pain/illness.
I have been in CPA recovery for 4 years and this book has been such a welcome addition to the Chronic Pain Anonymous catalog of approved literature and one that we use in my meetings almost weekly. Applying the principles of the 12 Steps to living with chronic pain/illness can be a confusing prospect, but "Recipe for Recovery" spells it out very clearly and is very user-friendly even for those who have never before used the 12 Steps. The format of the book is also very easy to read for those who may have troubles reading due to brain fog or concentration issues. The font size, bullet-points, as well as the overall 'recipe-style' format of the book makes it very pleasing on the eye.The first half of the book explains the 12 Steps, how to apply them to living with chronic pain/illness, and gives several examples from members and how they applied that particular Step to their life. The second part of the book is full of stories from CPA members in recovery and what this wonderful 12 Step program has done for them.I have a FB support group for those who live with chronic pain/illness, and when they are looking for book recommendations, this book is always at the top of the list. Today I LIVE with my illness and pain with serenity and that is thanks to the 12 Steps of Chronic Pain Anonymous.A winner!

Life Changing
I am so grateful to all who came before me to create this beautiful program and write this amazing book. Reading only a few paragraphs at a time, my mind and attitude shift from resistance and suffering toward acceptance, healing and peace. Reading about real people’s experience is inspiring and encouraging, and shows me that it is possible to have a meaningful life with chronic pain and illness.I will immediately start the book over from the beginning.

The 12 Steps work for living with chronic pain and chronic illness!
This book and the hope I have found in Chronic Pain Anonymous have remarkably changed my attitude and outlook. Thank you to the members of the CPA fellowship who worked on this treasured piece of literature, and to the members who study and discuss it and come together to share our experience, strength and hope in living with chronic pain and chronic illness. I and my family members are extraordinarily grateful for CPA.

Love this book!
As a member of CPA, I am so grateful to have this wonderful new book to provide structure for a working of the 12 steps, which are different in CPA, different from other 12 step groups. Those of us with chronic pain and/or chronic illness find great comfort in our program and this book is a remarkable new addition to the materials we use. It contains a lot of anonymous writings by members, but also includes structure and guidance for working the steps.

Very effective help for people living with chronic pain and/or chronic illness
Well written, easy to follow, and full of insight. The Twelve Steps turn out to be very effective in helping people deal with the social and emotional difficulties of chronic illness and chronic pain, and with the difficult decisions that have become a part of our lives. This spiritual approach gets to the root of things and helps us value ourselves and others in the face of our losses.

This book saved my life.
My isolation and despair was overwhelming when my life was stolen from me overnight. Reading small sections of this book daily has given me tools to not only honor the reality of my pain but to remind me that I am more than my pain. Priceless!
