Review: Very comfortable for holding my laptop while I'm in my recliner. - I recently bought a LapGear Sidekick Lap Desk with Device Ledge and Phone Holder. I wanted a laptop desk that's small and lightweight, and comfortable in my lap while I'm in my recliner. The LapGear Sidekick meets all my requirements perfectly. It is a pretty basic item...nothing particularly fancy about it. It's basically a plastic platform with a cushion sewn to the bottom. The cushion cover is a good, sturdy fabric, and the cushion's filler is made from what feels like tiny plastic beads. On the plastic desktop surface there's an anti'skid pad and a desktop ledge, both of which do an excellent job of keeping my laptop from sliding off the lap desk. There's also a slot for holding my smart phone, but I don't use that. My laptop and its cooling pad cover the slot completely. The LapGear Sidekick is only slightly larger than my 15.6" laptop, which is perfect, because it fits so well on my lap. It's lightweight and very comfortable. I use it not only for holding my laptop, but also for holding books I am reading when my laptop is not in use. I like the LapGear Sidekick Lap Desk a lot. Highly recommended. Review: Perfect size for a kindle or iPad - This worked out exactly like I hoped it would. I tend to squish my finger in between the kindle cover and was looking for something I could lay it down on. This was perfect. In addition, I tend to misplace my phone and the fact that there is a space for it where it doesn’t fall out was a bonus. I also like that the surface isn’t as slippery as the wood ones we have had in the past. It really is comfortable to use and a good value for the money. ## Features - Surface: The top of the lap desk is 17 inches wide and 11 inches deep, which is enough space for a 15.6-inch laptop. The surface is sturdy and flat to allow for adequate airflow and ventilation for your computer. - Cushion: The Sidekick's microbead cushion holds its position on your lap or on a table, keeping your work surface steady. The cushion is soft and creates a comfortable workspace wherever you decide to sit. - Features: The top surface of the desk has an integrated non-slip silicone bar to keep your devices in place, a built-in device ledge offering extra security, and a 6.5-inch phone slot that holds most smartphones horizontally. - Compact & Portable: Due to the lightweight (1.14 lbs) and built-in carry handle design, the Sidekick Lap Desk is easy to pick up and take to class, the office, or on a trip. The surface is large enough for your computer but small enough to be used in tight spaces like plane seats. - Versatile: This lap desk is also great for taking notes, writing in your journal, or reading a book. Watch a movie, shop online, or chat with friends in the most comfortable seat in the house. Your lap desk goes where you go and provides a flat surface for any project. ## Technical Specifications | Specification | Value | |---------------|-------| | ASIN | B07W3QTYCR | | Additional Features | Carry Handle, Lap cushion, Multifunctional Slot, Portable | | Age Range Description | Adult | | Best Sellers Rank | #131,435 in Office Products ( See Top 100 in Office Products ) #280 in Lap Desks | | Brand | LapGear | | Brand Name | LapGear | | Color | Black | | Customer Reviews | 4.4 out of 5 stars 6,012 Reviews | | Finish Types | Black | | Global Trade Identification Number | 00052162442181 | | Included Components | [Microbead Cushion, Non-slip Silicone Bar, Built-in Device Ledge, Phone Slot] | | Item Dimensions D x W x H | 11"D x 17"W x 2.2"H | | Item Highlight | Built-In Device Ledge, 6.5" Phone Slot, Non-Slip Silicone Bar, Microbead Cushion, Carry Handle | | Item Type Name | Lap Desk | | Item Weight | 1.1 pounds | | Manufacturer | Creative Manufacturing, LLC dba Lap Desk | | Manufacturer Part Number | 44218 | | Manufacturer Warranty Description | 90 days workmanship warranty. | | Material | High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) | | Material Type | High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) | | Model Number | 44218 | | Number of Items | 1 | | Product Dimensions | 11"D x 17"W x 2.2"H | | Product Style | Sidekick | | Special Feature | Carry Handle, Lap cushion, Multifunctional Slot, Portable | | Style | Sidekick | | UPC | 052162442181 | ## Product Details - **Brand:** LapGear - **Color:** Black - **Material:** High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) - **Product Dimensions:** 11"D x 17"W x 2.2"H - **Special Feature:** Carry Handle, Lap cushion, Multifunctional Slot, Portable ## Images ![LAPGEAR Sidekick Lap Desk - Black, Fits 15.6” Laptops - Image 1](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/817UtQCtlpL.jpg) ![LAPGEAR Sidekick Lap Desk - Black, Fits 15.6” Laptops - Image 2](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81eKu1BT1jL.jpg) ![LAPGEAR Sidekick Lap Desk - Black, Fits 15.6” Laptops - Image 3](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71+yeG9HWpL.jpg) ![LAPGEAR Sidekick Lap Desk - Black, Fits 15.6” Laptops - Image 4](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/81VrJrDvjyL.jpg) ![LAPGEAR Sidekick Lap Desk - Black, Fits 15.6” Laptops - Image 5](https://m.media-amazon.com/images/I/71cN25tBJVL.jpg) ## Available Options This product comes in different **Color, Style** options. ## Questions & Answers **Q: What is the pad on the bottom filled with? What type of fabric covers the pad? Is the padding adequate and comfortable?** A: Filled with tiny Styrofoam bubbles. It is real lightweight because of this. Material is 100% polyester which you would spot treat. It looks like the type of material they would use to line a gym bag. **Q: Will this prevent lap burn?** A: My laptop gets very warm when charging. The LapGear lap desk fully insulates me from that heat. I can't feel the heat at all thanks to the cushion on the bottom of the desk. It's filled with foam beads. The insulating cushion helps me position the desk as I choose and does not make my legs feel hot either. **Q: What is the distance between the upper & lower non-slip bars?** A: 8 inch **Q: Where was it made? China, US?** A: Our products are designed and quality tested by our team here in Texas and made in China. ## Customer Reviews ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Very comfortable for holding my laptop while I'm in my recliner. *by M***S on August 8, 2020* I recently bought a LapGear Sidekick Lap Desk with Device Ledge and Phone Holder. This suits the bill, but is a bit small (horizontal dimension). I like the padding/cushioning on the bottom, and my hands/arms are in a comfortable position. Well-constructed materials and slot for my phone. ## Frequently Bought Together - LAPGEAR Sidekick Lap Desk with Device Ledge and Phone Holder - Black - Fits up to 15.6 Inch Laptops - Style No. 44218 - LAPGEAR Designer Lap Desk with Phone Holder and Device Ledge - Gray Argyle - Fits up to 15.6 inch Laptops - Style No. 45438 - LAPGEAR Home Office Lap Desk with Device Ledge, Mouse Pad, and Phone Holder - Pink - Fits up to 15.6 Inch Laptops - Style No. 91584 --- ## Why Shop on Desertcart? - 🛒 **Trusted by 1.3+ Million Shoppers** — Serving international shoppers since 2016 - 🌍 **Shop Globally** — Access 737+ million products across 21 categories - 💰 **No Hidden Fees** — All customs, duties, and taxes included in the price - 🔄 **15-Day Free Returns** — Hassle-free returns (30 days for PRO members) - 🔒 **Secure Payments** — Trusted payment options with buyer protection - ⭐ **TrustPilot Rated 4.5/5** — Based on 8,000+ happy customer reviews **Shop now:** [https://www.desertcart.nl/products/155378256-lapgear-sidekick-lap-desk-black-fits-15-6-laptops](https://www.desertcart.nl/products/155378256-lapgear-sidekick-lap-desk-black-fits-15-6-laptops) --- *Product available on Desertcart Netherlands* *Store origin: NL* *Last updated: 2026-10-09*
