BEST FILTER MEDIA AROUND
THIS FILTER MEDIA IS ONE OF THE BEST, IF NOT THE BEST FILTER MEDIA IVE EVER USED IN MY 15 PLUS YEARS OF REEFING EXPERIENCE. IVE HAD EVERYTHING FROM ALGAE BLOOMS TO FISH ISSUES, AND CORAL RETRACTION. THIS FILTER MEDIA IS SO GOOD AT LEVELING YOUR WATER CHEMISTRY THAT IT SEEMS TO WORK OVER NIGHT IN SOME CASES. IF YOU ARE A MICRO REEFER LIKE ME THEN THESE LITTLE FILTER BAGS ARE THE PERFECT SOLUTION FOR MANY TANK ISSUES. AFTER ONE WEEK OF USE, EVERYTIME I ADD A NEW BAG AND TAKE OUT AN OLD ONE, MY CORALS AND FISH LOOK AMAZING AND EVERYTHING LOOKS EXCELLENT IN THE TANK. FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS ON THE BAG AND YOU WILL ALWAYS SEE GOOD RESULTS. THE LITTLE BAGS ARE POWERHOUSES WHEN IT COMES TO EXTRACTING ELEVATED LEVELS IN YOUR WATER CHEMISTRY AND BRINGS THE TO THE APPROPRIATE SAFE LEVELS. I'VE BEEN USING THEM FOR ABOUT FIVE YEARS AND COULD NOT BE HAPPIER WITH THE RESULTS. THESE BAGS SHOULD NOT REPLACE YOUR WEEKLY OR MONTHLY TANK DUTIES LIKE WATER CHANGES, BUT SHOULD BE PAIRED ALONG SIDE TO HAVE AN EVEN BETTER RESULTS.

FABULOUS size and product!
This is a fabulous product! And the nano pack is FABULOUS for nano aquaria! So, to clear up some of the things I noticed on other reviews: --Nano tanks are 20 gallons or less. But, this product clearly states 5 pouches for 5 gallons each, so while they can of course be used on a 20, I would use them on the smaller nanos. More pouches equals more production, therefore higher cost, so no complaining here, that's common practice. --Seller states you cannot open the larger pouches and distribute between 2 smaller ones (would of course be cheaper) and that the product would not be balanced properly (purigen and the resin pellets) and MIGHT not work...which I can see how that would be true. I did this before I knew that and I tried to mush it around before opening so that the colors were blended equally as best I could before pouring half out. I think I was either lucky (it still worked), but it may not have worked as long (?) and having them prepackaged is really more convenient. I only did this on my two 10 gal tanks because I didn't know they had a nano version. Now, frankly I find it an easier fit to drop in 2 of the pouches in the 10 gal HOB rather than try and smush the stocking filled half pack from the larger package.. --The little pouches are truly fabulous for my HOBs on my 2.5 and 5.5 gallon tanks. They are perfect because they FIT in those tiny little HOBs, particularly on those 2.5s. --The pouch is not in the least bit flimsy, but seem pretty sturdy to me. I can't imagine how it could break apart unless maybe it was under direct high power water stream. I'm sure I could alleviate any other concerns of the few people who rated low. Oh and while this says for reef or marine aquaria, it's fine for fresh, which is what i have. I bought this specifically to reduce Nitrates in one of my 10 gallons, that I needed to feed heavily and that had a lot of debris from plants. But, I added to another of the 10 gallons that is heavily fed due to many livebearer fry. Now, I'm about to just put them in all my other tanks as a matter of course. In the two 10s, I use 2 pouches. I was using 1 and it lasted about a month, under those conditions.

Perfect for Nano tanks
My glass is a little dirty in the video but this stuff works amazing! Crystal Clear water and keeping my tank clean. I’ve had this tank up for about 6 months and I use this stuff religiously. Not only in this nano but every nano I have.

Convenient for maintanace. Some packages were torn.
This is a very convenient way to maintain some form of control over chemical levels, including pesky phosphate. Controlling phosphate is tricky since crashing phosphate levels can be very problematic if you have algae present in the tank. Since algae need phosphate and absorb it, if phosphate levels crash, you're running a risk of having all the algae die and pollute the tank in a short period of time. Using smaller packages like these helps limit phosphate levels, but not cause extreme swings. If you do have very low phosphate levels to begin with, this is great because it can be used as a buffer against small phosphate swings, but doesn't alter chemistry in a significant way in a short span of time. Also great for smaller aquariums. I change a bag once a week or once every fortnight depending on how algae growth appears to my eye. Lowered Rating by one star because some packages arrived torn with media spilled all over the bag.

Great for small jellyfish tanks (Cubic Orbit 20)
I think this product must be doing things, as I recently by accident, submerged my arm into the jellyfish aquarium after rinsing my arms in tap water, to remove debris in the aquarium with a turkey baster. I basically introduced a 'capful' of tap water into a tiny aquarium whose inhabitants are so sensitive, that the heavy metals normally found in US tap water could harm or kill. I think the packet of this product contained or bound to any heavy metals that I introduced. That's a total bonus considering I just tossed it in there to keep ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, and uneaten food levels as safe and non-toxic as possible, and maybe decrease the frequency of deep cleanings and water changes (though I realize I must do these things on a regular interval). It just gives me a little flexibility I think.

Great product at a price
I love Chemi pure blue for my reef tanks. Basically, it's Chemi pure Elite plus Boyd's version of Seachem's Purigen. So what's not to like? Please be sure and rinse this well before use. You will get a good bit of black sediment out. You definitely pay a premium for the convenience of the little packets here. But I like them because if you have a nano tank....the only scenario that it make sense to use these little things....you may be running a hang on back filter, or at least a small filter of sorts, and these will cause less of a clog in your filter's already tight quarters. I suppose you could buy a larger bag for a cheaper price and make smaller bags out of that, but take it from me, this stuff is messy to parcel out, particles are tiny, and you may not be able to separate the two medias proportionately. So really, the only complaint I have at the moment is price. This product is relatively new so I would expect with some time and healthy competition, for this to become more affordable. By the way, I cannot say enough positive things about Boyd's customer service.

Amazing stuff! Had a green hair Algea problem so ...
Amazing stuff! Had a green hair Algea problem so bad that my glass was growing enough algea to almost not be even to see through it and I was cleaning it daily, saw this stuff on you tube and decided to give it a try. Wow next day algea totally gone! Plus my water became crystal clear overnight! Love this stuff, I only have a small pico tank but will run my filter with chemipure blue all the time now. Also had a red slime algea problem going on and used Boyd chemiclean with the same great fast results! Awesome product highly recommended!!
