Fun kit.
I'd not built a kit since collage. The printed assembly instructions are ok. The online instructions are the BEST. Well illustrated with parts that matched what was delivered. The case was a bit tricky to get together. Just a good number of parts all wanting to flop a different direction until I could the the screws tight. Only a minor challenge.

A fun build!
Some parts are easy to install while one component (processor) is a bit difficult to solder but practice makes perfect. Lots of functions including an array of displays. These are easy to change. The rest of the settings require the instruction sheet (download) and a lot of patience! It works very well and I am satisfied with it. May buy another just for more fun. I added the walnut base from scraps. Looks nice if I do say so myself.........

A very nice beginner kit that goes together easily and works very well!
I bought this kit as a father-son project. He is a typical teenager – loves technology and is very curious to know how things are built and how they work. We were both really excited to receive this kit.The kit was shipped to us in a padded envelope and arrived on-time in perfect shape. As shown in the photo, it came packed in a small cardboard box. The box is a great place to store the components as you put the clock together. On the day the kit arrived, I was very impressed to receive an e-mail from the seller with a link to a PDF instruction manual. The manual contains assembly instructions, a parts list, operation instructions, and a schematic. The assembly instructions were clear with good photos, and because the schematic was included, I was able to trace thru how the clock works with my son.The clock is well designed – it’s based around an STC11F02E microcontroller that is clocked by a 12 MHz crystal. The display is a 4-digit LED display and includes a proper voltage dropping resistor array to ensure that the LED display is run within its maximum ratings. The board runs off of a +5VDC supply and includes proper filtering and bypass capacitors. The PCB and the parts in the kit are of good quality – all of the components went onto the PCB with no issues and the board was very easy to solder. My son did most of the soldering himself and he’s rather new to soldering. This board would be a very good kit to hone your soldering skills if you are a beginner at soldering. The assembled clock powered up successfully the first time and is working great! We were able to set the time and turn the alarms on and off without any problem. So far, it is keeping good time, neither losing nor gaining any time in the three days it has been powered on. The alarm is quite loud, so if you wanted to, you could use this as your main alarm clock.Bottom line, this is a well-designed, well-produced kit that is well suited for a beginner in assembling and soldering kits. We found it to be an excellent value. I highly recommend it.

Perfect Beginners’ Soldering Project!
This soldering kit was really fun to put together! I did so with my sister, who is just starting out soldering, and it was just about right for her skill level. There is a variety of resisters and capacitors, a transistor, and a couple of other parts, including a surface mount battery holder. This was fairly large, and quite easy for beginners to work with as well. The only issue that I had was that the assembly instructions were sent to me via amazon support message stating that an error had occurred with my order. The link to the instructions pdf was a short hyperlink trail from that. Once found, however, the assembly instructions were easy to follow and very helpful. Again, though, it would have been easy to miss. They should at least include a QR code in the packaging that takes you to the pdf online. Now, while the assembly was fun and straightforward, the usability of the clock is not so great. The UI is composed of two buttons and a 4 digit lcd, and there are way too many features packed in. This makes for an unnecessarily complicated setup, and I was unable to figure out even how to set the time in the five or so minutes that I attempted to do so...Granted, I was in a hurry, and when I get back to it, I don’t doubt that I will figure it out, but the confusing experience did leave me a bit annoyed. On the plus side, there is a small battery onboard that keeps the time, so you don’t need to worry about keeping it connected to power.Overall, as a useful clock, it does leave something to be desired, but I don’t think that that was ever the intention. As a soldering practice kit though, this is a great beginner project, and I would definitely recommend! The clear housing makes for a great display piece, and it’s fun to be able to say, ‘yeah, I made that!’

90% of a good kit.
It comes with all the parts, although without any spares. It comes with a component list that lets you verify what you've got, and whose descriptions match what you get (mostly), although beginners will need to look up color-code decoders themselves as no such thing is included in the single-page instructions. The instructions are written in poor, but generally decodable, English. A schematic and step-by-step instructions, plus a clearly-labelled PCB, make assembly pretty straightforward.Where the kit falls down is the power supply. You're given a power wire with a header connection, but no battery connector or provision for a battery box. Worse, the printed instructions give no indication of the appropriate supply voltage. You can surmise 5V DC from the schematic, or take a big cybersecurity risk and follow the QR code printed on the instructions through a Chinese redirector to download a PDF from an anonymous Chinese site. Those instructions, although written in even worse English, do indicate an input voltage of 3 to 12 volts DC.This is an acceptable kit for someone who is looking for a through-hole project and has some experience with assembling DIY electronics kits. I wouldn't recommend it for a rank novice. Experience decoding poorly-translated instructions is helpful.

This was such a fun project
First, the item arrived very quickly, in fact, a day earlier than expected. The seller followed up with en email containing a full colour PDF walk-thru (not just a link) paying close attention to details such as how to ensure polarity of the components. The only downside is that it doesn't come with a case or even a referral to where the right one could be purchased. In the end, I cut holes in the box and mounted it there until I can find or 3D print something better.

Good soldering practice, but not for a first attempt
I would not recommend this as a first project to learn soldering, as it needs at least a little bit of practise beforehand to avoid making mistakes. After that, it is a reasonably good challenge for soldering practise. The document available by request from the supplier is very well laid out and clear to follow for the building of the device. The instructions in the same document to actually use the finished product are difficult to understand due to the poor explanation.
