Q: Will this work with red, yellow, and white cables?

Depends on what you mean by that. If your TV only supports composite inputs, i.e. yellow(video), red(right audio), and white(left audio) inputs than no, it will not work with composite video. If you are just using RCA cable extensions with yellow, red, and white ends to plug into into a component video input (Seperate red/blue/green color channels) then it's fine. When using RCA cables the end color doesn't matter, they all function the same.

Q: Can this work on nvidia graphics cards with a 480i crt TV?

This is designed to work with all standard 7 pin s-video outputs, please check the documentation of your specific video card to determine if it uses standard 7 pin s-video and if the video card supports 480i. It is the video card that determines resolution. Also if you intend to use multiple monitors please confirm your video card supports multiple active outputs at the same time.

Q: Will this work in reverse: component out to s-video in?

Works Great on Dell Inspiron 6400 with ATI 1300 Graphics Card

Just plug the adapter in the 7-pin slot, connect it to an HDTV with component cables, boot the computer, then enjoy the crisp display on the tv screen. Audio requires a 3.5mm to red and white RCA adapter. Overall, I am very pleased with the adapter.
