Pure Velvet
"The Velvet Fog" was the undesired nickname of Mel Torme' a remarkable singer, songwriter and composer and this album only helps to serve what only "The Velvet Fog" could provide. The only true way to compliment this man is to listen to his work - each note, each lyric compliments the listener demonstrating the value of music and the expression of genuine talent.Mel Torme may not have enjoyed the title bestowed upon him, but he was certainly Pure Velvet with incomparable personality and appeal. He remains a favorite with many worldwide and among many generations.

My favorite singer
This a small collection of 14 lovely songs. Nostalgic; one could say "no one sings like this anymore". I love to hear songs well known as Sinatra's, in a little different interpretation. I can't say which is "better" - it is just a matter of personal taste. And I like them all equally! This is music for somewhat older people, like myself, for many pleasant moments.

Not a Torme fan.
I heard some of his music and liked it so I bought this disc and several others. A little of Mel goes a long way. George Shearing however is outstanding and the sound is quite good.

A super album for the money! A very good compilation of some of his better known songs. If you are a fan, or just enjoy a good vocalist, you can't go wrong.
