Just all plastic, looks like chrome. It works for a shower shutoff.

Easy installation & great fit

If you install on a fixed pipe it is okay. I have it installed on the hose so I need 2 hands, 1 to hold it the other to turn the valve.

This is junk. I was ok with plastic, but there are issues. The threads are loose on both ends and it leaks. The rubber flat washer in the female end is very soft and fits loosely in the valve. If you screw it on the shower nipple finger tight, you can feel the washer slip inside the nipple as it makes contact with it. So the washer does not seal at all because it does not stay in place. You really should not need teflon tape but I tried the tape. Due to the very loose threads, excessive tape is needed to seal it. With all that tape, its still loose so you can't adjust the shower head without the threads loosening. The male end sort of seals to my shower head, but again the threads are too loose and it spins too easily. In concept, it does what I need, but it drips and fits too loose. The reason I got this is because my shower head corroded and I got a free replacement from Moen. The old head had a 2.5 gpm restrictor in it. And after some research I found the new head now had 1.8gpm restrictor. This made the head pretty much useless to us and shower time doubles to get a good rinse. So I removed the restrictor but then had way too much flow and the hot water couldn't not keep up. This valve would have worked perfectly but it does not seal or tighten well.

I’ve bought multiple water savers for our basement shower due to leaking water and high water bills. None of them ever really worked until I ordered this one. It stopped the leaking water completely and I was so thrilled I ordered 2 more to have on hand.

Easy to install

Does what it says it does. But it's plastic covered in a chrome finish--I thought it was brass or similar with a chrome finish. Realistically, it's too inexpensive for that.

UPDATE after 6 years: Still working perfectly! I am buying another--it is so easy to move using thumb and forefinger. SEE PHOTO of one I am replacing--it moves in an arc - impossible unless fingers strong!Original review Shuts off water 100% for me-- I know some others say not. Also, knob is easy to turn because it is not completely circular and won't slip in soapy fingers

Great bang for your buck. It does the trick to help me regulate the flow of water in my daughter's shower. I don't want it blasting her with high pressure, so I use this to make it a gentle trickle. Works as intended.-1 star because of the big blob of grease located on the ball inside the unit. I don't want grease being sprayed into anyone's hair.I attached a photo so you can see it.Great bang for your buck. Made of plastic and obviously not super high quality, however it works as good as any other expensive ones. So you can't beat the price. Very happy with it. I would just suggest the manufacture take it easy on the grease for the lubrication of the valve.

This is complete garbage shut off valve,no wonder its so inexpensive.First it is make of cheap thin plastic with faux chrome finish,when I started to thread it you can feel how thin the plastic was when it started to creak like it was going to snap.The little black valve itself feels like it belongs on a toy rather than a water fixture.When I installed it and turn to the off position the shower head was still slowly dripping.Spend a little more and get a better quality one.
