Works Great, Good Quality, Good Price
After three months of research--a hobby of mine, research then go buy something--I decided on this edition from the Semogue line-up. It seemed like an excellent value at an easy to palate price. Boar hair seems to fit in better with my preference for face-lathering. So how did I do?The brush looks nice, and is physically smaller than my old badger brush. The decal is a sticker, but it isn't showing any signs of lifting up on the edges, so no problem. It feels nice in the hand. As with my last brush, it carried a slight odor that went away after a few days of regular use. It picks up soap quickly and is easy to gauge the water/soap ratio. On the face it was pretty stiff for the first few days, but now it is soft but firm. It feels great and easily lathers up in no time. The knot is very tight and has stiffer bristles so it takes longer to dry out than my last brush, not a bad thing.Bang for buck...it has lost 7 bristles in 2 months, having been used every day. In the first three weeks it lost 6 of those 7. My last brush lost 7-20 a week and lasted about 7months, although I used it longer. I think this brush will last years. The finish is sturdy and should be able to match the knot. As for overall quality, it is crafted well enough to give the aura of demanding respect, which is fair. I will post an update after 1yr of use and so-on. I'm very happy with this purchase.-------Update:This brush loses almost no bristles now, maybe one a month or so. The only thing that hasn't held up particularly well is the paint on the outside which cracked a few months ago and has started to chip away. I may have to strip it and refinish it...or buy a new one eventually. We'll see how it holds up through year 2.----Update: 5/12/2017The brush is now 3 years old and aside from the paint coming off on one side, there are no issues. It works great and rarely loses any bristles. Definitely a quality product!

Great purchase
I bought this brush for my husband since his old brush was destroyed in our move. He loves it. It's firm enough that he can get a good lather with soap or cream shave. Uses it often and still in good shape after 1 year of use!

The good - the brush delivers a great lather
This is a low cost boar brush. I bought it for myself based on the price, and I would do so again, but there are a couple of things to know about this brush if you are thinking of getting it.The good - the brush delivers a great lather, even with a hard soap. The bristles break in quickly, and if properly soaked (at least 10 min before using) they feel good against your face. The bad - the paint began cracking off within a week. I shave every other day, so it was within a couple of uses. There was an unpleasant odor when I first opened the brush, but it was gone after a good rinse and wash with shave soap. All in all an acceptable brush, especially given the price.

Tiny Little Brush
This is a very pretty but tiny shaving brush, more appropriate for an exhibit than actual shaving.

After One Year and Moderate Use, the Paint Has Chipped
This was my second Semogue Boar brush. I also have the Semogue 1800.Once broken in, the 1520 makes heaps of lather. The bristles are oh so very soft when water and shaving soap/cream come together to generate lather. A real joy to use! However, this morning, I noticed that the brush developed a chip in the paint. Undoubtedly, It's going to spread and the brush will either have to be stripped and refinished, or just set aside.Part of the problem is, habit. I have many shaving brushes, the majority of which have plastic/acrylic handles. This means I can place the entire brush in the sink and allow it to soak while I shower. In short, these plastic handled brushes are much heartier when doing a full brush soak in the sink. With a wooden handle covered in paint (a lacquer paint, I think), The 1520 should have been soaked bristles only.Next time around, I'll buy a something along the lines of a Semogue 620 Superior Boar Bristle Shaving Brush or Semogue Excelsior 830 Shaving Brush. Both of these brushes have acrylic handles. It's partly my fault. I should never have soaked the entire brush. (I do a full soak of the 1800, but all that is required is a bit of mineral oil to keep the wooden handle fresh).Having said this, I still need to knock off one star in my rating. Frankly, I didn't use the 1520 everyday. I may have used it once or twice a week, if that. Because, I have so many other brushes that get more use. I purchased the 1520 at the end of July, 2018 and it's now February 27, 2019. If used two to three times a week, that puts it at 14 to 21 uses or so....and the handle has already chipped? Again, 21 uses (at best) and it's already chipping? So, bottom line, the 1520 has terrific bristles that are soft and lather up a storm. Take care with the handle, though. Soak this brush, bristles only.Ultimately, simply buy a Semogue shaving brush that sports an acrylic handle.

Perfect Little Shaving Brush
Having used a quality badger brush for awhile, I decided to try one with boar bristles, particularly with hard shaving soap. I was impressed by the Semague 1520 because the bristles are a little stiffer, and because it's attractive. I was skeptical from some of the feedback that boar bristles feel scratchy against the skin, but I found the bristles to be ideal for me. Badger bristles are a bit too soft for me and tend to feel mushy using a rich lather. The brush I received had no unpleasant odor, and has been ideal for me since I started using it. I have also used it with TOBS creams with the same success. For those who want a new shaving experience using a boar bristle brush, I would recommend the Semogue 1520.

Just save your time and money and get it.
For the price of this brush I really think you can do any better. The loft is perfect for just about any cream I throw at it.

Great Customer service and product
Excellent service from seller with faster than advised delivery. Wel balanced brush that produces a good lather with soap and provides a good shaving base. Does have a slight odour when first used but after a weeks use the brush has settled down. First experience of Semogue products but will buy again.
