This digital caliper by Starrett has worked well since the day I’ve gotten it. I test its’ accuracy with a 0-1” digital micrometer and it is very accurate out to four zero’s. In comparison to the Mitutoyo caliper I received it had uneven calipers that required metal to be removed before it would close. Starrett is a trusted brand that I will choose from now forward. Most highly recommended.

I’ve been a machinist for about 15 years. I recently bought these calipers to replace my last set made by a different company. Most of my smaller tools are starrett so I decided at this price I would give them a shot. I’m glad I did, These are well made and feel great in the hand. You can feel the quality when you use them. Very stable sharp and repeatable! I would definitely recommend these to anyone looking from beginner to seasoned professional!

just what you expect from Starrett

If you’ve a machine that isn’t CNC you know that an accurate caliper is absolutely necessary to make good parts. You also know that a caliper in a shop can lead a rough life. Cheap calipers aren’t accurate and super accurate calipers are expensive and usually fragile. This caliper is in the “Goldilocks” region; reasonably priced, and accurate/repeatable to the 0.001” (yes it’s got a half a thousandth last digit but we all know that’s not repeatable in a caliper). Be aware that Starrett isn’t manufacturing this in the US which may be a requirement for certain contracts.

Its a great mulit funtion tool. I use it on the shop floor. The MM and Inch is great. Plastic case is kinda cheap but other then that its a Starrett so it will hopefully hold up. The SS helps out when you work somewhere that doesnt let you bring in certain oils.

The company has changed hands and I hope that the high quality will be maintained. I gave the Caliper a demotion on ease of use because the slide action is quite stiff at the beginning of travel. I hope that it gets better with use. Might have to get some of the fine machine oil just in case.
