Good morning Michelle, The mesh holder from the Munchkin Super Scoop is washable. To clean, simply use a clean damp cloth to wipe down and let it air dry.

How do you wind it? Bought one and maybe it's broken...?

The arms move. You have to wind the arms and then you can watch it swim in the water. My kids love it.

how long does it swim for after you wind it up?

About 30 to 45 seconds depending on how much you wind it up
