Great hat!
We love our hats! The material and craftsmanship are without question. The sizing guide was accurate. Cozy band around the head. The brim is very stable, and water resistant. Effectively protects my head from the sun. The cooling mesh is fantastic. Would absolutely recommend if you’re looking for a solid hat.

Good Hot-Weather Hat
I've got a few challenges when it comes to having my skin burned by the sun: My heritage is Irish/Norwegian, so my ancestors adapted to seeing the sun on special occasions only; I shave my head so there's a lot of skin to scorch; and I spend a large amount of time outdoors in the summer sun. I wanted a hat that shaded me on the sides and back as well as in the front, didn't make me look like a total doofus, wasn't hot and fit well. I also wanted one that was made in the USA. This hat fits the bill nicely, and although I still think I kinda look like a doofus I can't honestly blame that on the hat. Any breeze flows through the mesh and is cooling while still shading my scalp from the sun. The brim goes all the way around. The hat is very light and it fits well. They send a hatband pad to decrease the size of the hat if you need that, which is a very nice 'extra' to have when buying a hat online. It's a great hat!

Can't go wrong with its one
AMAZING hat! Fits GREAT and comes with 2 hatband "size adjusters" that make it a perfect fit even for windy conditions. VERY lightweight. Excellent value for the price. Keeps the sun off, but is cool. Highly recommend.

Fantastic Hat - Buy It!
I absolutely love Barmah Outback hats and am proud to say this was my third purchase. They are meticulously well-made, stylish, durable and function as they should. I ruined my first Barmah in South America when I was forced to use it as a dipper for river water. It was crushed in its wet state and remained that way for about 4 days. Although I could still use it after that abuse, it had lost its good looks. I bought a Bronco fold-away last year and have used it almost every day here in Texas heat. It looks worn and discolored but I consider this to be "character" and wouldn't part with it. I just received the subject hat, a brown canvas model and it has been great for fending off the sun while keeping my head relatively cool. I consider it my outdoor companion and am not afraid to wear it in light rain and put it to full use. Cowboy hats to me look silly even here in Texas and I have been asked on several occasions about my canvas Barmah and where I bought it. A great had and highly recommended.

A Hat I am Proud to Wear!
When John Kennedy became President in 1960 he took the oath of office sans hat. He was the first American President in a very long time to give up headgear. I gave up hats that same year and while I have tried from time to time to wear one I never found one I really liked until today. The Barmah hat fits perfectly , looks good and the brim is big enough to keep the sun from doing damage to my skin. This is a real man's hat. From the time the little box came and I laughingly said, "Well, it can't be my hat," I was enamored of it. The box was far too small for what was inside. The Barmah was kind of crumpled up in a quart size lunch baggie but when I opened it, it sprang into life as though by magic and has retained its shape perfectly. Since that first day I have worn it every day and will continue to do so. It is so lightweight and cool yoiu don't even know it is there and, i get lots of compliments. I am a heart transplant recipient and the anti rejection drugs I take cause me to be susceptible to skin cancer. The docs insist on our wearing sunscreen and wide brimmed hats but I hated every hat I tried. This one, I wear with pride. It is exactly what I wanted and needed. Thank you Barmah, thank you Australia and thank you mates.

Probably the best gateway into "cowboy hats"
As a Californian, it was a bit of shock to people when I propped this on my head today. Of course, there's a few "hey Indiana Jones" comments, a few western jokes, and the snarky "howdy" here and there. But considering how many of them know my personality, being a history/anthropology student, and liking western aesthetics, I consider them par for the course. By the time I sat down to offer a review for the hat, I realized "who cares it's a damn good hat" and a damn good hat it is. I fumbled between grocery store/gas station/hardware store sun hats through the years and there's always some problem with them. Too tight, can't withstand an occasional burst of wind, mishappen, or flat out a pain in the butt to clean. But after wearing the hat today, taking it on and off, at a relatively "decent" weather of 76 degrees, it felt incredible by comparison. The hat has a natural but slight curve despite the radius being consistent from the front and sides. The mesh feels really good to the touch, and there's a nice "shield" just above the brow that gives the some additional sun protection for the front of your head as well as masking some of the holes for visual purposes. If you do your job at home and measured your head right, you might not need the complimentary sizing bands. However, I can tell this might "breath out" over time, which is to be expected. It, simply, was the best fitting hat I've ever enjoyed and this is coming from a lot of years wearing baseball flex-fit caps too, where sometimes you can't get **exactly** the right fit which can lead to a lot of fiddling through the day. But this? Hardly needed to adjust it and it was brutally pleasant to experience. The hat gives very ample production without being overkill to protect your head, face, and neck from the sun and the mesh does actually do its job in giving enough ventilation to allow the natural airflow cool your hair/scalp. This was arguably the best part of the hat, because from all my time looking into "what western-styled hats would be worn in the heat" its between straw (which isn't my style) and something like this. It gives the aesthetics of a felt hat with all the perks of being a straw hat and it's (again) a pleasure to wear. As far as cleaning goes, based on how I feel with the sweat band, a little distilled vinegar and the occasional baking soda brushing should keep the stink and oils off, especially if you aim to wear this daily. I know this review was only given after a day, but, I notice with clothes you sorta "know" if it'll fit in your arsenal of clothes and it certainly does. Thanks for taking the time to read this review and I hope this hat serves you well, if you choose to buy it. As I said in the title... this might become a hole in my pocket in the near future. Bravo Barhma!

Flimsy quality
Not very good quality, flimsy, but it does keep the sun off when I play golf. There are better quality and options available.
